Not really any different in those regards to the Mutual Aid groups is it?Anyone else concerned that the army of 250,000 untrained volunteers roaming around is a terrible idea in a lockdown? I also question peoples motivations but that is probably too cynical right.
I think the BDS checks are only applicable for some roles:I doubt there’d be time for DBS type checks.
Patient transport drivers will require an enhanced DBS check and will receive guidance to do this role safely, also included within the 'getting started pack'.

Might also get some free masks and gloves out of it too.No, it crossed my mind as well that receiving whatever kind of accreditation they're going to hand out might be quite a temptation to people who'd like a free license to roam around without being busted.
I had to fill in full address on the formI did it too. Weird they don’t even ask where you live.
Will have another look, maybe I messed up before even beginning.I had to fill in full address on the form
Dear Badgers,
Thank you for your enquiry to volunteer for NHS Volunteer Responders. Due to high volume of enquiries we may take between 2 and 7 days to check your identification. Please also be aware that we are not planning to start any volunteering until after the 31st of March 2020.
Thank you for your patience and once again thank you for your support.

I certainly see both sides of this ^I may regret asking but how do we feel about the politics of this thing?
On the one hand it feels like a way of glossing over the state's failure to adequately resource the NHS, both historically and now. If it's successful it will likely be used against the NHS afterwards. I find it very difficult to trust these kind of schemes - with the prevailing climate in this country they feel like a few degrees away from scabbing.
On the other hand, aside from the obvious matter of it being a national emergency and something that may save lives, it's an example of people offering what they can which under different circumstances is the model many of us aspire to.

There are lot's of 'should have and could have' discussions to follow this and 'hopefully' they will be held to account.Yep. They could have at least considered paying (some of the?) people that they are asking to come and prop up the broken system that they have hollowed out so that it has no chance of coping.
I'd imagine lots of the volunteers will be 80%ersYep. They could have at least considered paying (some of the?) people that they are asking to come and prop up the broken system that they have hollowed out so that it has no chance of coping.
I'm sure they did consider it. And decided not to.Yep. They could have at least considered paying (some of the?) people that they are asking to come and prop up the broken system that they have hollowed out so that it has no chance of coping.
