Netherlands vs Czech Republic Sunday 27th June 5pm

Person being fouled should take the penalty really to make things fairer.

Players are on a goal bonus as well. Hence why you sometimes see them arguing amongst themselves about who gets to take it. I think its around £50k in the prem, but its based on their contracts. God knows what Ronaldo's contract says.

May as well chalk off all the tap-ins people score in this tournament too then.

It's a bit of a derail but this is how it works. You can see why they bitch when a shot is credited as an own-goal.

It completely varies depending on the goal bonus each player has with his club - so there is no default answer to this. Players can also be on an incremental sliding scale.

For example, at least a couple of seasons ago Roberto Firmino at Liverpool was reportedly earning:

  • £25k per goal for goals 1–5 scored
  • £45k per goal for goals 6–10 scored
  • £65k per goal for goals 11–15 scored
  • £85k per goal for goals 16–20 scored
  • £100k per goal for every goal scored after he’s hit 20 for the season
  • £30k per assist
In 1 game he hit a hat trick against Swansea, taking him up to the 16 goal mark which earned him £205k i goal bonuses plus adding to his alleged wage of £68k per week gave him a minimum of £273,000 in salary for the week - that figure could be higher depending on appearance bonuses.

Credit where its due, good win and a decent upset too.

Still pissed off, but also still have Sweeden in the sweepstake :D

Czechia were always going to win that. There's a reason that Netherlands haven't been in a major tournament since 2014.
