National Sausage Week (29th October – 4th November) 2018

I get commission from the Chopped Tomatoes Marketing Board every time I post about eating tomato-based concoctions
I think your marketing plan needs work as I'm not convinced your key messages really resonate with the audience.

I'm making toad in the hole on Wednesday with sausages from my local butcher called Heartbeat bangers.
Toad in the hole! Now there's a genius idea. I like a veggie sausage but I'm not sure I feel the need of a whole week to celebrate them. However in toad form...

I am not vegetarian myself, but cos husband is pescetarian (fish/seafood but no other meat) and likes most meat substitute products, we do often have veggie sausages in - not being a fan of the taste of quorn, I do like the Lindas best, but the red onion and rosemary ones I think are particularly good. With buttery mash and peas and veggie onion gravy they are quite moreish.

I think probably because they taste quite herby, I am not particularly into soya taste either - but the herby taste of the rosemary ones is very nice.

I have the day off today & will enjoy a couple of sausages to break my fast.

They are only Tescos fodder but will have to do. What you have to put up with if you live in a village. There is a Waitrose but I don't really rate their sausages. I prefer Sainsburys to Tescos but have to travel to get. Happy Sausage week to all those that love a pork stick.

I do think I need to get some meat saussies in for me. Nate has some of those new-ish Iceland vegan ones to try in the freezer, so I should probably pay a visit to the butcher to see what I can get. Fancy some Lincolnshire saussies, will decide between mash/peas/gravy and beans/chips on the day.

The no bull (probably no porkies for sausages) Iceland range is really good, you'll probably find them quite tasty.

Yes that's the one I was referring to when I mentioned the Iceland vegan range. Nate is trying those. I like meat, he doesn't. He had the jalopeno burgers last night and said they were a bit shit, which is a shame. He smothered them in enough sliced gherkins and condiments that it wasn't really about the burgers though.

We also have some of that range of vegan sausages in the freezer for him, but I am not vegetarian and really hate soya - so I'll still go to the butchers to see what meat saussies I can get :)

Just picked up some cooked bratwurst from Booths discount section. 4 quid for two, down to 80p. I got four

I sliced the sausages and fried them and then added shredded sprouts, and then stir fried in sesame oil and soy sauce with sliced red chillies, and then added spring onions and chopped walnuts.

It felt like an odd combo, but it was nice :)
