Moronic Brexit twat gets on St Pancras roof: destroys everyone's holidays

You can't be suggesting he hasn't thought it through. Seems very unlikely

I'm not suggesting that. Maybe he did and didn't assume the station would close. I don't think I'd have thought that it was that likely. Probably just expected being nicked and in the Evening Standard.

They've advised against travel via Paris Gare du Nord, advice doesn't affect services to Brussels.

Sending folk to Lille to pick up the Brussels trains.

Bet they're not offering refunds though, so people will still be travelling.

They are offering full refunds, even for trains that run, as their advice is not to travel unless necessary. Who travels unless necessary? “Oh I had nothing better to do than take a Eurostar...”

And those who were inconvenienced by RTS, would they be justified in doing the same to the ‘bell ends’ doing that?
Err, avoiding RTS usually meant a short walk to the next bus stop/tube. I don't recall thousands of people having their holidays cancelled as a result but maybe you can furnish me with plenty of examples?

But RTS was good and this is shit.

I don’t like this modern thing where people say “oh well I bet you’d love this if he did it for a good reason rather than a shit reason” as if that’s some sort of massive own.

Neither do I particularly, and I enjoyed many a RTS day out. But for this guy to do this he must feel that he has a genuine grievance and to dismiss that out of hand leads to Brexit. So there you go.

Er that has nothing to do with it, it's mass action for progressive politics v individual action for shit politics. Incidentally, I don't suppose so great a proportion of people affected had holidays disrupted than would be the case in a week or two when it's Easter. You always fall back on hols being ruined like it trumps everything else. Think of all the musicians touring or people needing to see relatives or whatnot

Baton rounds are Ideal for this come down now or we will shoot you and drag your arse down.
which is completely different from handing them out in a riot situation

Also hasn't there been massive disruption to Eurostar due to French customs officers going on strike?

For the record, I hate those fuckers too but would rather they weren't victims of state brutality for the sake of holidays.

You hate workers using their collective strength to get a better salary and conditions. You shameless shit, I hope the ghost of Bob Crowe comes to terrorise you when you sleep tonight.

Also knocked out the Kent High Speed "Javelin" service.

Cretin does not probably appreciate that HS1 has French signalling , which would possibly have made him even angrier. BTP had a torrid night with this idiot , having to get in a special "trained at heights" team as the risk was such.

Wow, they're such tight-fisted bastards that I'm impressed they're actually offering refunds.

Who would go anyway? Well, people who have already paid for the rest of their holiday, people with meetings they can't change or those who only have that time off work. I'm sure there will be a lot fewer travellers but there won't be zero.

Everyone who does stuff feels they are justified in doing it. Or they wouldn’t do it.

The loons blocking roads around Trafalgar Square every Saturday undoubtedly feel they have genuine grievances but they are racist conspiracy theorists, and even though I don’t give a toss about traffic jams in an area that has terrible traffic anyway I still think they should piss off. If it was Extinction Rebellion doing the same I’d be all for it. (But if XR did it they’d be arrested anyway whereas this lot just get followed about.)

Bloke cluelessly ambling on a roof with no stated purpose, no banner and no message and seriously inconveniencing thousands of people...

is somehow directly comparable with...

a targeted, relevant, environmental mass action protest with clearly stated aims that causes very limited disruption.

What a depressing thread this has turned out to be.

Yer man was carrying a flag of st george, not sure a banner would have been more visible. And yes his antics can be compared to rts, contrasted as I did above. As for rts's disruption I seem to recall a day in June 1999 when the city of london was greatly disrupted, much more than oh walking a tube stop or two. Maybe you're looking back and thinking oh not so much disruption but my recollection is it was the more the merrier. Digging up the road by shepherd's bush for example. And why not?

Why didn't someone just go up and arrest him or just chat him down

Because it’s not a roof meant to be walked on? And it’s very high.

I don’t wish harm to him but why should anyone else be put at risk to get him down?

People are talking reasonably about it. It seems harmless forum fodder. We haven't had a single bun thrown....

YET

Especially the people who need the flag of st george to have 'england' on it so they know which way up it should go
It should have Palestine on it, anyway.

That one where your missus at the time drove the truck in to Trafalgar Square.

In what way was that a targeted, relevant, environmental mass action with clearly stated aims?

For me it was a rave in the centre of town.

clearly stated aims: rave in the centre of town
limited disruption: only anticipated to last a few hours till people got bored / heads got broken
and of course in rail terms only people heading into or out of charing x might be affected
