Milo Yiannoupoulis banned!

What do you mean so what? You're the one who started a celebratory thread about his banning (a risky move considering...as was bringing up gamergate) and so any possibility of it being rescinded is clearly relevant whether there is anything that you can do about it or not. You didn't make the original ban either but that didn't stop you starting a thread about it. And if you don't want discussion, why start a thread? Put it in announce.
I mean what I said: so what. There's nothing either of us can do regarding the decision making of Twitter so why speculate? Why not just bask in the moment.

Why do you keep saying 'risky move' and such? Again, if you have a deeper point to make, then please make it. I don't care for subterfuge.

I posted it in the general forum because I thought that was the best place. It's not really a political discussion.

I'm not really sure where you're going with all this?

EDIT: why are you saying I don't want discussion. That's what we're having right now, so why are you complaining?

There's nothing you could have done regarding the various decisions of DWP or other bodies that you've posted about on here for years, yet it hasn't stopped you speculating about the possible outcomes or how things might develop. In this situation Pickman's model and others have done just that based on precedent, logic or wider context.

Biscuitician what butchersapron is saying is that you have been happy to speculate on previous things e.g. dwp decisions which you couldn't yourself affect, yet you are less willing to entertain the possibility that this milo might be allowed back onto twitter save as a sock puppet. this is a peculiar attitude for you to take.

But I didn't say anything of the sort. I said that there was no point speculating about it, and since we can't do anything about it speculation is all we have. If that makes me a hypocrit for speculating on DWP decisions (years?) then so be it. Why is this such a big deal? I didn't say you couldn't discuss it or that I don't want people in this thread to do so, you can speculate all you like. I just don't think it will contribute anything.

perhaps you could better address that to butchersapron. i was simply acting as interpreter.

The reply was public. You offered to explain, so I quoted you.

What is the real issue here, though?
the real issue is you seem determined to make a fucking mountain out of a molehill. my pov is really quite simple: 1) regardless of what you think twitter will do, it will act as it desires; 2) they may allow this man to return, which i believe quite possible given the vast number of followers he has, and despite any offence he has caused; 3) even if they don't permit him to return i fully expect that he will go to another (existing) form of social media and continue vomiting forth his bile there. none of this seems to me controversial or really that markworthy: but it seems to me to have exercised you considerably.

please bear with me while i go to another computer.

I don't think I'm the one that made a mountain out of a molehill. You and butchersapron are the two that have acted like a dog with a bone over a minor aspect of this entire issue while misrepresenting what I said in claiming I'm against people speculating about Twitter's future decisions. If you want to speculate then go right ahead. All you're doing here is stating the obvious and I don't really know why. Aside from that, there's a weird subtext that needs to be made plain.

I'm not exercised by the fact that Milo might circumvent this ban, I entertained that very possibility in the first post. Why you're not seeing this escapes me. It sounds like you're advocating no responsibility on the part of individual social media owners because transgressors have the opportunity to go elsewhere and carry on there. Well that's not Twitter's problem.

why are you telling me what i told you? do you think that after saying 'i don't think any of this particularly markworthy' i need to be told i am stating the fucking obvious?

If your question is "did you intend to post what you posted", then yes! Obviously! :D

Let's just leave it there.
