Meredith Kercher Murder Case: Verdict expected soon

While I was in Italy,I met a German post grad who had been the last person to view the Perugia house that Knox shared as a prospective tenant before Meredith moved in.
he drank in the bar that Knox worked in,etc and I think was shown around the house by her, he was interviewed by the police afaik.

btw,Mods please change Meridiths surname to Kercher,my apologies...

I cna't believe loads of seemingly intelligent people have so many 'feelings in their water' about this

Dwyer is the only one talking sense

This whole thing leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It's clear to me that her life style and prettiness worked against her in this case. Some of the retarded comments in this thread don't leave me any more comfortable with this conclusion. Hand stand and splits FFS? She cried when faced with 26 years in a prison cell? She smoked a spliff? She cuddled her boyfriend? What the fuck is wrong with some posters? It is very clear that she has been demonised this past year. Guilty or innocent, this trial has nothing to do with justice IMO.

Cod psycholgy?

When have you been convicted of a crime you didn't commit?

When I was I felt nothing but anger at the whole Judaical system. I had placed my trust in it and got fucked up the arse for doing so.

OK it only cost me two thousand pounds, not twenty six years of my life, but still.

Sorry, but the relevance is what exactly?

The idea that people all react to extreme stress in the sameway is complete nonsense. If the topic is emotive for you due to personal experience, I'm sorry to hear that, but you're talking some right crap here.

I figures Foxy did the murder just cos she wanted to and she's a wrongun'. She will still be a 'celebrity' even while doing chokey. She will come of of prison mid 30's I'd say and probably kill her first husband.

And dylans knows.

She was in the UK. But not in the US. And according to a friend of mine in Italy, the press are not remotely salacious.

This was in Italy so what bearing the british press had on the verdict I don't know.

I also think there are two separate issues here - the way Amanda Knox has been portrayed in the media and the verdict. I am not convinced that one had that much bearing on the other.

Most of the material for her character assassination in the media was leaked from the investigation and presented at trial.

There's no way you can be 100% sure about how a verdict was arrived at unless the judges and jurors speak out, however to suggest that media portrayal and the verdict are unlinked would seem to me to be remarkably naive.

She done it.

Dunno, but if I was convicted of some thing I didn't do there would be no tears, sobbing and the rest.

There would be an outpouring of righteous anger. And I think my family would display the same anger.

But she sobbed like a child who had been confronted with irrefutable proof of her bad doings.

He was stoic, again not the response of the truly innocent. But his family has money and high connections in Italy and maybe he feels, like the British toffs do, that being a posh fucker will eventually work in his favour.

The saddest thing is that Miss Kercher's family will never know exactly how or why their daughter died.

This is a very tick post.

Hand stand and splits FFS?

Clearly you disagree with seasoned members of the carabinieri from your exalted position of board poster. You don't find it odd that somebody facing a possible murder charge should start on a display of acrobatics.

Mind, she could have been suffering from derealisation or even regressive behaviour. Or there again, maybe she just has a twisted sense of humour trying to do an Olga Korbut in the Stazione di Polizia.

:p

It's a strange day indeed when urbanz castigate other urbanz for not having enough faith in the carabinieri.

I tend to agree with that, especially in regards to the trial she's getting on here.

Now there's something I've never seen on urban before. :hmm:

Not sure if you're being sarcastic, but personally I don't care if she blew the boyfriend and then put on a display of rhythmic gymnastics. Convincing evidence, DNA results that hadn't been messed with, a prosecution that didn't change timeline and motive claims...all of these things would make me a shitload happier about this case.

I'm not going to get too excited and see the machinations of Italian law through British eyes nor query any evidence I have not been privy to. That would simply be conjecture. Suffice to say as an appellant she has two opportunities for her case to be appealed.

It's to be hoped the Italian judiciary have not read some of the emotional outbursts of the Americans.

“What century is this? Didn’t Joan of Arc, the Inquisition and our own Salem witch trials teach civilised nations a thing or two about contrived sexual hysteria with a devil twist?”

Indeed.

the way knox has been treated in the press is pretty fucking nasty and largely to do with her being good looking and "promiscuous" :)rolleyes:) all the same i can't believe i'm the only one who thought she was guilty as sin from the second she got caught out trying to blame the barman?

The barman is Patrice Lumumba's grandson.

FACT.

I don't get this. If the conviction is that Knox stabbed her while Sollecito held her down then what role did the previously sentenced Guede have in the murder?

I remember reading a piece in Private Eye about how the investigating cops were all believers in some kind of Valerie Sinasonesque, fact free, satanic panic theory

I wish I could find it but google says no

It was certainly cause for concern

Did anyone else read it?

He said he was in the toilet when it happened.

Nice copout.

Regardless of your personal apathy, there are a number of serious concerns about this case:

1) The court appointed forensic expert actually said there was no DNA from Knox on the alleged murder weapon, contradicting the prosecutions claims
2) Another court appointed expert witness said the knife did not actually match the victims wounds.
3) Difference in alcohol levels from the victims blood indicate samples had been switched
4) The general level of evidence is so patch that the prosecution had to change their timeline of events as the trial went on
5) The vilification of Amana Knox in the press. Being a slutty cow is not actually evidence of murder

You get the idea.

If you think that acknowledging these issues is conjecture, I have to contend you're wrong. This has unfortunately been a very strangely handled case, and I say unfortunate as I think the victims family deserve to see justice being done, and the guilty parties being punished - any doubt over the verdict will just trouble them the most.

Good points Eddy. And as I said, if the evidence is flawed it can be tested and challenged at the appeals court. Within 90 days we shall be able to read the findings of the jury and of their reasoning. Until then it is conjecture.

Apropos the vilification of Knox. I'm not sure which media is doing this. Is it the Americans? The British or the Italians? If it is the latter I can understand why - not that it would make it right.

I'm sure that it was just an oversight, posting in haste an' all that, but what about spelling Meredith correctly?

He got 30 yeasrs didn't he? I wonder why he got more.

I dunno, it could be racism as Boycey suggests, or it could be that the evidence against him was a lot stronger. He does seem more willing to talk than the others though, which could be interesting.
