Mate just told me he read earlier today that the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle is supposed to be setting sail for the gulf on Wednesday to join the fight against Isis.

French Air Force are already bombing IS in Syria and Iraq from the UAE - been doing so for months. CdG is going on station to get the strike aircraft closer to the target areas so they can carry less fuel, more bombs. this will be her second - and going by the events of today - not her last deployment to launch strikes on IS.

TBH it doesn't have to be a massively coordinated attack - the shooting at the restaurant could well have resulted in at least one of the other ones, if the same people ran into the theatre afterwards (perhaps as the French Police tried to stop them).
