Many dead in coordinated Paris shootings and explosions

All national flags are soaked in blood, and the simplistic nationalism that events like bring out in people is pretty grim.

But, it's a traumatic event, and people are trying to show some level of human compassion, and sometimes this comes out in ways that we don't like, but probably aren't as bad as we might think they are.

Maybe we could be a bit understanding and cut them some slack?

So you think nationalism with a nasty whiff of racism is an appropriate response. I bet not a single one of these plonkers make much noise about the other mass slaughter going on in the Middle East in the last few days.

At the very least you're playing right into the hands of IS by getting all Al Murray.
hmmm. There is another way to think of it: the French flag stands for the three pillars of the Revolution, and those ideas are worth standing in solidarity over.

Not to my taste, but I think you've got this quite wrong.

If they dressed up as Napoleon maybe I'd agree with you, but in this case it will be a lot of people who couldn't give a shit about nationalism or politics just reaching for the most obvious solidarity symbol. It's not the gesture I'd make, but your derision for people showing empathy is more dangerous than their supposed nationalism.

Putting your wildly unfounded presumption as to the motives and beliefs of those electing to pay tribute in a manner that clearly offends you aside, you haven't explained why you see fit to describe them all as 'morons'.

Revolution is the last thing on those morons mind.

You're political analysis is similar to your cricket anylisis; you have a few good facts but fail to conceive a decent high level overview.

Right, so you've chosen to be a twat and make personal digs. Well done.

The three ideas of the revolution - liberty, equality and fraternity - have been mentioned many times in the last few hours. No doubt many of those 'morons' associate the three stripes on the flag with these ideas.

the public these days are far more aware of Saudi and far more likely to link it to the source of terrorism.
There's no secret here, no mystery and no coverup far as I know, it's just the way it is, and increasing public awareness is unlikely to change much, I fear.

what i always appreciate about your posts is the way you object to things without giving an indication of how you feel right-thinking people should express their solidarity with the dead and injured, the shocked, the bereaved and friends and families of the wounded. now you have our interest, why not tell us?

Liberals justifying nationalism and racism.

I wonder if this attack has any links to the robbery of arms from Miramas earlier in the year? A French guy I've been working with told me he expected something big after hearing about it.

This image seems more fitting but i'm not gonna slag off someone for using a flag to express solidarity with people after this, especially not now and especially as they're doing it for the right reason.

The concern of the killing white people in a predominantly white country stands out somewhat.
We had this over charlie hebdo too. What with all them black people saying je suis charlie as they sucked up to their white masters. That's total bollocks, and totally missed the point that the demonstrations after that atrocity included everyone of all colours. Hopefully there can be a similar response here.

I would suggest we get some perspective and if you feel motivated to tackle the cause of this suffering supporting those who are genuinely fighting for equality and Liberty against IS.

Clue: that isn't the French state.

You're a bigot of the highest order. You have no idea at all about the individual politics or the beliefs (or the background, colour or nationality for that matter) of almost all those people who have elected to display the French flag as a gesture of support and sympathy. None at all. Yet here you are, dismissing them all as morons and liberals. Your conduct on this thread is a fucking embarrassment.

Was just on the phone to a friend from Abu Dhabi who raised some other attack in the last few days that we don't see so much about.

I'll bet you can't name it, you pretentious eejit.
