Many dead in coordinated Paris shootings and explosions

Good idea. But " Saudi Arabia is Britain’s largest arms market by far. It has sold 72 Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft to the country in a contract worth an estimated £4.4bn ... etc etc.
That's been going on since the 1980s and the al-Yamamah arms deal. Just my perception from a limited set of factors but I do think the tide has started to turn though.

The BBC censors are at work, videos from Paris are now having evidence of dead bodies blurred out, ffs we know people were killed, blurring images is ridiculous.
I suppose you are right that it's a form of censorship, but there is censorship and censorship. This is not pretending that there are not dead bodies. It is just obscuring some of the details, isn't it? This may be in part because the broadcasters fear that for some people the unedited footage may be too traumatic. I think it is also out of respect and concern for the friends and relatives of the dead, some of whom may not want the corpse displayed on the TV for all to see.

(Where I live, the TV news shows corpses on the street without any obscuring of the image. I don't have a strong preference for or against the BBC - and more generally British TV - policy.)

ID Cards were proposed for similar arguments, are you in favour of them?

Not the cards. I'm hugely in favour of data sharing across public services, including security and policing, and I guess a master data management approach is needed. No-one particularly needs a single citizen view, but matching records should be made easier. The cards were a bad idea, supposed to sugar the pill but actually offering all sorts of ammunition to libertarians.

Against the acceptability of arms exports and general complicity with the Saudi regime and its similar peers.

I wish that were true but the Saudis have been the biggest buyers by far in the global arms market for the past 12-18 months and with that kind of money on offer it's clear that Cameron & Co will make sure that we keep selling to them. Huge amounts of bribes are on offer to the people who make the decisions, there's no way they are saying "no" to that.

I haven't myself but my French family and friends and their non French friends are and they all say you can go fuck yourself. As do I.
why?
how does it help in any way beyond making them look like they really care?

You know why.
No, I really don't know why. I see people expressing their sympathy and support to a terrible event in all sorts of ways. Some may not be the way I'd do it, but I'd like to know why you think people choosing to put a French flag in their profile are "morons" and what it is you're finding so nauseating. Could you provide a straight answer please?

Like I said, just an anecdotal snapshot, but it seems to me that the public these days are far more aware of Saudi and far more likely to link it to the source of terrorism. It's already become problematic for smaller arms companies to do business in the Middle East.

So you think nationalism with a nasty whiff of racism is an appropriate response. I bet not a single one of these plonkers make much noise about the other mass slaughter going on in the Middle East in the last few days.

At the very least you're playing right into the hands of IS by getting all Al Murray.
