Manchester United 19/20: You can't win anything with kids (revisited)

I'm not excited about the prospect of Poch tbh.

I mean he's obviously a good manager. But I'm not sure he'd thrive at United right now.

I still like Ole. Sure, he's not good enough but given the doubts around anyone doing much better with current owners I'd rather have Ole trying to get the mythical United way back than some random "name" coming in every couple of years and failing.

Now...if we could get whoever is the Klopp of 2021 then that would be great. I don't know who that is though and I doubt the Glazers do either.

I still think we treated LVG shabbily. I liked the guy even if the football (post that MK Dons defeat) was turgid.

Mourinho blew his shot and Moyes was horrible right from the off.

Poch’s big problem would be to install some tactical nous into a team that has only one mode which is to play on the counter attack . The second would be about having to stick or twist with a squad that doesn’t have the work ethic to play the way he’d want but certainly has the talent to do so .
Can’t see United improving under Ole tbh ( depends on what Utds aspirations are ) but Poch would want a financial commitment to invest in new players and he might well have sights on Real Madrid tbh

To be fair, Klopp is the Klopp of 2021.

Mourinho blew his shot and Moyes was horrible right from the off.

Moyes was hindered by insubordination from his senior players, and maybe a little too much reliance on the wide-men whipping crosses in to... no-one.

Moan-inho, though a an indignant and nasty bloke, won stuff.

LVG could have been given more time. Should have been given more time.

Moyes giving Rooney a 5 year contract after Ferguson had tried to get rid of him for a while was when a wheel fell off. Ferdinand and Vidic were irreplaceable. As were Carrick, Scholes, Evra, and even Park Ji-sung. They don’t have a player like him anymore, a player every fucking team needs. Completely without ego and absolutely committed to the team. Buying Pogba back, embarrassingly both then and even more now.

Some of these mistakes were avoidable, some weren’t,

But I don’t see a talented squad there, I see a shabbily drafted unit of mercenaries with the odd academy lad and the messiah himself, young Marcus.

Poch thoughts?

or maybe he’s dropped acid in order to reach deep within his mind, to work out exactly how to have Wan-Bissaka and Like Shaw drifting into central midfield to implore a front press that see’s the whole unit working together and getting Pogba to stay inside that left-sided channel where he was so good playing for Juventus.

oh wait - maybe it WAS Pirlo making him look better than he actually is. Just like all those great playmakers do. Scholes, Silva, Veratti, Busquets. Should never have brought him back, never mind the net-loss.

Why would Poch want to go there though? Every manager has been treated like shite since Fergy left.

Also, with wispers of PSG calling for him, united looks like a very poor second choice.

This. As a non-United fan, I still think it still counts as a big job, but only just, so it would have to be the only offer to him.

They didn't give Moyes enough time, sacked Van Gal after winning the FA cup, Morene was gone after finishing second.

Consistently not bought the players that managers have asked for.

I don't think the fairly well publicised lining up of a new manager while Jose was still in the job was well managed, accepted that as ever Jose play ball either

the divs in charge wanted the PR hype that City v United would come along with it also being Pep v Jose. Should never have gotten rid of Van Gaal.

None of these decisions particularly single out Man United from other clubs as having a treated their managers like shit tbh. Post Busby and pre Ferguson Man Utd went through loads of managers.
Most clubs have the same balancing act over transfers ie what the current manager wants and what the club sees as an investment. Every now and again theres a purple patch when managers and clubs not only agree with the transfer targets but hit a rich seam in availability, price and value. Man Utd may not have been as astute as some clubs in the transfer market and some of their managers have wasted the talent of some excellent players ie Di Maria under Van Gal. There's one thing you can't criticise the club for and that is their cheque book

Even Ole has now been thrown under the bus by leaking the approach to Poch to the Standard.

Doesn't look like a welcoming place there at the moment.

The Guardians Jamie Jackson was still rooting for him a week ago

Di Maria quickly realised he didn’t want to be there, as did Sanchez. When an institution is failing - top down - every cunt starts to wing-it.

when the fuck wouldn’t he root for Yanited?

Does anyone else think that United haven't treated their mangers since Fergie like shite?

Given an example of one which has been treated fairly.

Man United haven't been beaten in the league away from home since their trip to Anfield in January. Nine games.
