Man United - the team that gets me excited? 2024-2026

TNS of the Welsh league now have more wins than Man Utd in Europe this season.
Radcliffe should use the £2m he's took off Ferguson to get the TNS manager in as a high performance, Europe facing, marginal gain strategic vision consultant.

Bit unlucky today apparently, but still, 14th after a 1/4 of the season. Haven't checked, but that must be lowpoint since, phew, when? Probably 1988-9 when they ended the season 13th, the year Ferguson nearly got sacked iirc. Also, dreadful Europa campaign.

Not much point sacking the manager, but equally not a cat in hell's chance he can pull it round. Which probably means they need to sack him, get someone in to buy a team in their own image and close to start again from scratch.

Erik ten Hag is over.

Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited.

Latest odds. I'd be shocked if Amorim took the job tbh after turning down West Ham last year

Rúben Amorim 3/1

Ruud van Nistelrooy 7/2

Xavi Hernández 6/1

Thomas Frank 8/1

Gareth Southgate 8/1

Steve Cooper 10/1

Kieran McKenna 10/1

Zinedine Zidane 14/1

Graham Potter 16/1

Simone Inzaghi 20/1

Massimiliano Allegri 20/1

Andoni Iraola 25/1

Julian Nagelsmann 28/1

Xabi Alonso 33/1

Roberto De Zerbi 33/1

Unai Emery 40/1

Eddie Howe 40/1

You'd have to back yourself to take that job. Van Gaal, Mourinho have both fucked it up.

Give it to Giggsy.

Is there such thing as the Bottom Half of the Premier League and Europa League Iron Throne? If so, it claims another victim. :D

Why would any of those want it? You're taking over a team of failing, increasingly unpopular, overpaid egotistical prima donnas. The first cup you'll win is a poisoned chalice.

Has to be Badenoch or Jenrick, no?

Mind, Liz Truss is 50/1 and she has a record to rival that of Brian Clough's.

Nagelsman down to 6/1
RvD now 1/2

To be fair, only another 10 years of shitness and they become Sleeping Giants. Then, the only way is up. :D

Gutted, they need a world class manager like Eddie Howe or Potter to consolidate the progress made by Ten Hag

i remember the day united won the league and city were relegated, back in 1996. sure there's a lot of city fans would be very pleased to see the tables reversed.

And getting even further into jumpers for goal posts, the classic red shirts v sky blue, with no players names or sponsors shite, was nice to see. Showing my age even more, I preferred the older United strip, without the collars and pretty much a red version of the City strip. But still an absolutely classic set of images on display. 'What colour telly was made for' as people (probably) said at the time.

Ten Hag won 2 cups... he was the 2nd most successful Premier League manger while he was in the job 😅

he does seem to have had some terrible luck. should have been "out of sight at half-time" on Sunday according to the BBC report, and yet a dodgy penalty at the end sends it the other way. but that's the deal - you take the fall for the players being crap.

Yeah, true, but there's a sense that these were pretty much his players. Iirc, he did better when he had a squad purchased by his predecessors. I've nothing against him, this is just a badly run club.

It was a very dodgy penalty. No idea why it was given and could have cost him his job. Although his employers were probably looking for an excuse tbf.

yeah, badly run club for sure. and it has been too crap too many times, so his days were numbered. just a bit of a bad luck thrown into the mix recently.

it is the sign of the times that managers get hardly any time now. 2/3 years is just the norm. I was looking at Chelsea's recent managers and it's crazy - about one every year.

Yeah, definitely. Ten Hag's clearly a decent manager who may well go on to do well again elsewhere. It's just with united, you think, fuck, where are they going to go next. Failed to get the Glazers out which is the big issue for me and now we've had Radcliffe coming in as the peering over your shoulder hard man, which has yielded nothing at all. The sad fact is that United are only likely to get back to the top if some Petro State or monster like Musk gives the Glazers untold billions. Which would be the point I tip from being a semi-detached fan to actively hostile.

One every year ? If you really want to compete with us you'll have to have six in the last two years pal .
