Manchester United 19/20: You can't win anything with kids (revisited)

1-1. Not surprised. its been a one way traffic since we scored. sitting here thinking, are commentators so blind that they can't see we have not kept possession at all since our goal.
They really are everywhere; it's darned impressive how little space they give your players on the ball. Been in a few games like that, and also know it's bloody annoying! :D

We are out. doesn't fill one with confidence when we bring on Mata. Pogba has not impressed in this match at all.

Scholes : ‘ Utd need to spend more money’ Which of course is what Utd have done and done . Got to be more to tactics than get it to the front three tbh

Well.

3rd place and 3 semi-finals?

Seems a fair reflection of where we're at to me. Easily could've been a worse season, hard to see it being much better tbh.

Further progress needed. 1st XI needs a couple more hungry, top class additions. Squad needs more depth, the bench is woeful. Ole and his team need to keep improving their coaching and game management.

Can't see us breaking into the Top 2 next season. But if we can cement Top 4 status, close the gap a little and hold our own in the CL then I'll be satisfied.

Not bad for £200m tbh

shrugs

I saw United go down in '74*

...and then endured Liverpool's dominance through the 70s and 80s

...and then was privileged enough to witness the Fergie years.

I can cope with a lean spell so long as we're trying to it the right way. Of this I have confidence with Ole.

*literally. Was a season ticket holder at the time. Was also only a baby so I can't remember it :D

Yeah, at least I've more confidence that next season will be 'okay' than with any of the other post Ferguson managers at an equivalent point. Not sure OGS is that savvy but there's more resilience and positivity about the side now. 3rd is far from guaranteed next year but we won't be looking at 6th or 7th.

From a biased Liverpool fan perspective, I think OGS is perfect because he doesn't appear to be quite good enough for the job, but isn't terrible either. I don't want anything too bad happening at United that will precipitate a crisis and subsequent radical change - such as a change of ownership or some kind of wunderkind boss reinventing football there. Of course I don't want them to win anything either. Having a competent but not brilliant manager at the helm is ideal, as United continue in this mode of mild deterioration - the stadium gets creakier, the club becomes slightly less of a financial force, and less of a playing one too.
