This threads depressing. A bit of piss taking would be understandable. Someone walks a bit of the way down through portugal, nicks a few spuds out of fields, lives hand to mouth, romanticises it quite a bit.
Sounds like fun. I don't really understand the snideness of the comments and then lengths to which ppl are going to tell a stranger his life is shit and rub his nose in it. Bit sad.

100 miles as the crow flies and if he stayed more or less on the coast at least 125 if not a lot more. 14 miles a day for a week, in a dead straight line. More like 20 miles a day on the ground. I'm saying 'bullshit'.

Also need to factor in foraging time each day.
That green route of Pickman's model , not walking down the blue Motorway, is a tad shorter so could be 240 km, which is 150 miles. So a demanding 20+ miles a day.
