Stanley Edwards I think you need to drink some more water, if you are only drinking beer you could dehydrate, especially if you are walking a lot in this heat.
Also eat better. And stop pretending you are living off the land - going to a shop and buying stuff to cook on a camping stove is not that, not by a long shot.
I am drinking plenty of water. I am about to start a 60KM - 80KM hike with NO beer tokens
Eat better? Beetroot in spicy chili sauce with coriander and fresh crab is not good enough for you? Did you see my mackerel with potato and broad bean salad? I am eating extremely well. The list of all I have harvested is...
Crab.
Potatoes.
Tomatoes.
Lettuce.
Beet things (they taste like a slightly less peppery raddish).
Grapes.
Broad beans.
Mint.
Thyme.
Oregano.
Spinach.
Onions.
Stuff I have forgotten about.
The list of stuff that has come for free via the land includes...
Marjoram.
Cabbage.
Some other beet things.
A full seafood and rice meal.
Local red wine.
Beer.
Small black beans.
I have bought from the shops...
Chilies.
Garlic.
Beetroot (from a local market).
Olive oil.
I have bought a mackerel from a fisherman.
I recycled onions, red and green peppers, potatoes and more beet things from an outdoor market after it had closed.
I will bet that my diet now is better (in terms of health) than anyone else posting here. It is all fresh, fresh, fresh produce.
But, beer - yes. I am actually trying to cut down to Zero alcohol before 10PM by the time I reach Tavira. Night time drinking will always be a part of my life. Probably not for the next couple of days mind. This is going to be a tough, but hopefully very rewarding hike.
Couldn't find anywhere worth sketching for cash in Figueira da Foz. I am hoping to come across a small town with a suitable night scene to sketch this evening.
Must start walking!
