Keir Starmer's time is up

Then how can we explain its blind, unquestioning devotion to Israel right or wrong?
Money. There are a few "generous" ultra-Zionist donors to US political campaigns, just as there are big donors from the arms industry etc. US politics (and increasingly UK politics) is all about the money. It's not blind, unquestioning devotion to Israel right or wrong. it's blind, unquestioning devotion to large sums of money right or wrong.

It's very different.

What the USA needs from the middle east is oil. That explains why they back the Saudis. But Israel has no oil. Furthermore, by allying itself with Israel, the USA infuriates and alienates the people who do have the oil. So afaics the USA gets absolutely nothing, or rather minus nothing, from the alliance. So why does the alliance exist?
Israel has gas and iirc there are some big gas fields off the coast of Gaza.

I suspect it's "plata o plomo." Money (i.e. bribery) is certainly part of it, but imho intimidation is even more important. The reason the US Congress gave Netanyahu 63 standing ovations in one speech is that AIPAC officials were there taking notes. Anyone who didn't bob up and down like a trained seal gets targeted by them--meaning they'll fund their local opponents, spread slander against them and generally do everything in their considerable power to end their career.

If there is one thing that would change US/uk politics for the better, it would be making that kind of thing illegal.

Culture, history, racism, settler history and deeply embedded ideas about the civilising nature of Empire, who qualifies as human and colonialism. There is no one reason, saying 'money' or 'lobbying' is always an easy out but there are centuries of reasons (mostly bad) for the US backing Israel.

Racism, and Islamophobia: Israel is treated as an enclave of Whiteness, while Judaism presents no challenge to Christianity.

That can't be it. Anti-semitism is more deeply embedded in Western culture than other forms of racism, and Christianity is based on the repudiation of Judaism. Any doubts about "who qualifies as human" would be directed against Israel, not in its favor.

It's much simpler than that. It's AIPAC.

Islamophobia trumps anti-semitism when it comes to Israel, because as I said Israel represents an enclave of Whiteness, and Judaism presents no challenge to Christianity. Its pretty simple and your "nonono that can't be it" is classic Dunning-Kruger.

So when the prof gets cunted off the Israel/Gaza thread he just drags it all over here?

No, the question was why isn't Starmer calling for a ceasfire when everyone wants him to?

And the answer is that AIPAC tells the USA what to do, and the USA tells the UK what to do.
