Keir Starmer's time is up

IMO events in Gaza could derail Starmer's attempts to be a government in waiting.

There are around 15 or so Labour MPs who are Muslims. The article below shows how the current situation could cause internal problems within Labour:

And of course it isn't only Muslims who won't be happy with Starmer's support for the horrors in Gaza and its going to make their persecution of Corbyn supporters for supporting Palestine look very bad.

The fact is, 6% of the country is Muslim and they are politically overrepresented within the Labour Party. Support for what could turn out to be a genocide against the Palestinians will almost certainly throw Labour into renewed chaos.

This is it.

Pursue masked protesters more vigorously, CPS says

Telephone and computer records should also be checked to see if there is evidence of planning violent or illegal disturbances, the advice drawn up by the director of public prosecutions (DPP), Keir Starmer QC, states.

Prosecutors are also being urged to work more closely with the police to examine social network sites.

So, not even if there's reason to believe there's such evidence, just "to see if there is."

Starmer getting a shoeing for this (read the comments). Lots of people quite rightly pointing out that only a few days ago he was standing behind Israel's decision to cut off electricity, water and food supplies; a war crime in international law. Has now backtracked but only after Tory MP Crispin Blunt said UK could be legally complicit in war crimes:

More importantly 19.7% of his electorate are Muslim, and just about all of them that we have encountered on the street are extremely angry with him. They also are a pretty well organised community. That's at least 12,000 votes against him right there. There are even more students. Tuition fees anybody? We know where the students are, we know where the Muslim community are and who their organisers are. He has spent his time as leader of the Labour Party turning his constituents against him. Forget what happens in the rest of the country. Starmer doesn't get re-elected as an MP... and he has nobody to blame but himself. Of course it will be blamed on the left anyway.

Good point. Yeah him losing his seat sounds plausible.

It doesn't really feel like it should be that hard to say Hamas did terrible things, the Israeli government is doing terrible things and we want it all to stop and for civilians to be protected.
is the sort of antisemitism we can expect from the party of Jeremy Christ

Massive massive panic over losing entire councils. Damage already done.

Here's an unroll of that thread as the whole thing is worth a read, also for people not on X/Twitter:
