Keir Starmer's time is up

Its not even Asbestos, its the shitty cardboard walls built by PFI contracts under Blair and Browns "we can't spend money so lets get it off the books and somehow spend more money" brainwave.

The number of schools I've worked at with 'temporary' portakabins that have been there 25 years. Holes in the walls, bitter in winter, uninhabitable in summer. Rain coming in through the roof. It's an absolute shame.

And think of the pupils. They have to put with the teachers as well.

I feel like I have nobody to vote for. Clearly the Tories are duplicitous incompetent sociopaths, but Labour are just "that but we're going to try not to do the incompetent bit". Lib Dems LOL. Greens maybe. I don't really know anything about them but they're the last ones left standing.

It's that age old question, can I hold my nose hard enough to vote for those pricks who have spent the past three years telling me I'm a cunt and have no policies that I support, just in the hope of getting rid of the other, probably worse, lot? I dunno. It's fucking depressing either way.

If Labour are going to win the next election they are going to have to persuade a lot of people especially working class voters who voted Tory last time to vote Labout this time around.
"You're all class traitors, we hate you and hope you burn in hell" is not going to win many over tbh.
Tbh it’s the Tories that have got to persuade ‘especially working class voters who voted Tory last time ‘ not Labour

And that’s what Starmer wants. He’s anti PR presumably because it gives voices and exposure to opponents on the (lol) left

It's (more) posturing bollocks. He's making snide implications about the dedication and common sense of people who have been doorknocking for Labour for years for the sake of a cheap headline aimed at the sort of dipshit who he reckons will turn their vote if he says enough nasty public comments about lefties. As though grassroots Labour activists were previously all engaged in bricking known tories' windows ffs.
I mean you save the bricks til after the election clearly.

Seriously it is like he's moved on from wanting to piss off every local candidate and onto wanting to piss off any party member who might have been happy to knock on doors and do the real work.

Why are those the only two options?

Imagine a politician coming out with 'there is no hope' as their tagline and expecting it to get them elected. But then I guess the system has already decided that it's their turn to get elected so why bother trying? The 'abandon hope' stuff is very clearly aimed at leftists, workers, anyone who is sick of a system that is able to treat them with undisguised contempt.

I'm almost with FridgeMagnet at this point, I'm not sure it'd be any worse if the tories won again. But even that wouldn't sink the blue labour project, they'd just regroup with someone worse at the helm and run with the exact same bullshit in five years' time.

Yes I do wonder whether Starmer is going to come down even harder on protests and the like because (if it happens) Labour is in power and people should be supporting him, and he wants to reassure tory voters that the government is in control.

I can't do it for Starmer. Nose holding only goes so far. I'll probably vote Green, they're a load of shite, but it does at least show up as 'didn't vote labour because climate'.

I mean one thing we can be sure of with the modern Labour party is that they give not a single tiny shit about what you want if they think you are going to vote for them regardless. They lost Scotland that way, they lost big chunks of the North, they have learnt precisely fuck all. So I see no benefit in saying "oh well I'll vote for you regardless but I'd love it if you didn't do all the things you're talking about".

They're also a bit more (okay, a lot more) socially liberal/progressive (drug decriminalisation, for example).

Exactly: there is no real hope, just 'false hope' and no hope. From the horse's mouth who wants to be health secretary. Incredible.

Good to see grown up adults back in charge of the party.

I suppose this is part of not giving people "false hopes"
I think I'd rather see children in charge with their greater imagination and minds less trammelled by conventional notions

Yes it struck me as empty words with nothing to back them up.

And it'll be easy enough to classify any environmental action as terrorism since the only people he seems to 'hate' are environmentalists*. With a big enough majority he can just slip stuff through and sanction any labour MPs who dare to vote against. Just like the tories in fact.

*and socialists of course
