Keir Starmer's time is up

"Your big problem Keir is people don't think you stand for anything."

Sorted.

“That’s why I say this project goes further and deeper than New Labour’s rewriting of clause IV … This is about rolling our sleeves up, changing our entire culture, our DNA. This is clause IV on steroids.”

Sir Keir: “clause IV on steroids”

Side effects of steroids:

  • increased appetite
  • rapid mood swings and mood changes, becoming aggressive, irritable and short-tempered with people
  • thin skin that bruises easily
  • muscle weakness
  • delayed wound healing
  • depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, confusion and hallucinations
  • increased risk of infections
  • reduced growth

:hmm:

Well I didn't read all of it but the Green stuff looks good and

"Bring our railways into public ownership as contracts with existing operators expire,"

And "abolish the House of Lords" stand out.

Of course this isn't actually a manifesto and there is nothing to say that will survive to election, or actually get done.

And, like I say, I haven't read all of the rest of it.

Just trying to think what this looks like to the right wingers Starmer is trying to appeal to... I think it looks like "vote for me, I'll pander to you but I'll ignore you in office because you're not really relevant." If it doesn't look like that it should, the Labourist/Fabian/Starmerist outlook is fundamentally paternalistic and contemptuous of popular democratic opinion from either the left or the right.
