Joe Biden's time is up

Well er, it's kind of part of the job description not to fall asleep on the job as POTUS. Particularly when this is the first time you've ever actually been arsed to visit Africa and are sitting with all the local presidents.
Well, just seems to me that things are so fucked at the moment that an elderly man nodding off isn't top of the agenda.

He never should have run for a second term, that's my point. He's patently incompetent. He's let Trump back in due to his own hubris.

Well, we've had Trump shitting his pants on the Maga thread, so it's probably a score draw on that one.

Seriously though, so what?
Yeah most people "check out" of jobs when they are leaving :D . Who cares about what Biden does at this point (i doubt he cares what anyone thinks now. Probably counting the days.)

Well, I'd agree with you on that, though I'm no longer convinced the Democrats would have won it even with a different candidate/longer run in time for the new candidate. Possibly, but no longer sure about that. Making a break with neoliberalism and rebuilding links with working class voters is a different matter entirely.

Go on Joe, do it! He is considering preemptive pardons for those targeted by the bastard and his henchmen. He needs to do this. Funny how Empty Greene is telling on herself, saying Trump needs to pardon her and others. I thought she had begged for a pardon from him previously, but she was in no danger with Garland at the helm of justice. She should have been arrested along with the other insurrectionists.

Anyway, some info. Watch it or don't watch it, just don't hassle me for your decision. 7/8 minutes, so if you are inclined, watch, if not scroll past. Just don't accuse me of spamming the boards when I post actual information.

The Supreme Court would undoubtedly rule that any pardons were done by Biden in his personal rather than presidential role.
The Supreme Court “justices” are all probably either as pissed as Trump’s mattress or stoned out of their skulls most of the time, so anything is possible.

Well, they could try, but how do they square that with the orange monster pardoning all of his cronies and business mates? That is personal.

Anyway, how much sway have they got over that? It's one of the presidential "perks".

Oh I hope he does too. Bit more on it here:

PS. Hope you ran that vid by the board police for approval and permission before posting, breads? You in danger, girl 😜

Bbc has reported it from "sources" (whoever that means?)

Bonafide sources I'd say, considering who these sources spoke to:

The president has discussed the preemptive measure against potential revenge attacks with senior aides, but no decisions have yet been taken, according to sources who spoke anonymously to The Associated Press and Reuters news agencies on Thursday.

Biden just pardoned or commuted the sentences of 1,500 people. I'm finding a couple of these to be a bit strange. One of them is a judge, convicted in a cash for bodies deal with a for-profit prison company. He imposed sentences far in excess of the norm, so they'd receive custodial sentences. Then, he'd send them to this for-profit juvenile prison and get a kick-back. At least one young man committed suicide. That level of a violation of the public trust deserves a long sentence.

Another, is a public official from Illinois, who embezzled $54 million dollars. She used the money to fund luxury cars and a horse farm. She was sentence to 24 years and is a free bird after 10. If my math is correct, that's $5.4 million dollars a year. Many people would consider that "worth it!" Ditto the long sentence for violation of the public trust.

I know that pardons are always controversial. Trump's been credibly accused of pardoning three people who paid him $1 million dollar each. You aren't going to please everyone, but I think most people would agree that these are inappropriate, unless there are mitigating factors of which I am unaware.

Joe Biden is getting on and were he in any other profession he would have been retired by now.
Nancy Pelosi just fell in Europe and broke her hip, she is also not in the first flush of youth.
And there is another democrat recently looking infirm .. I forget the name ..

And Trump is pretty ancient ..

Yeah, that judge definitely deserves to serve the full term, I guess he fell under the umbrella of people who have been in home confinement since 2020. At least he's not getting off scot-free - he's almost 15 years into his 17-year sentence, which was scheduled to end in August 2026, if he'd been sentenced on state charges instead of federal ones he might have been out a lot sooner

Shock, horror.... Biden has been senile for years. The article's basically syndicated from the Wall St Journal, which is behind a paywall before the jobsworths on here start whinging about a daily mail link being posted.

It's fairly damning. very indepth, with input from both sides of the house. he never should have been allowed to become president.

The WSJ article was paywalled for me despite the share token and there wasn't a proper archive version when I looked. The DM article has been archived, however (useful if you don't want to patronise DM or sign up to their cookies, or patronise xitter) - and yes, the story if true is shocking if unsurprising. The White House has been run by a small cabal and the world has been gaslighted. At least there is a precedent for managing #47's decline, even though it will be different people calling the shots.

Biden's gone in 3 or 4 weeks anyway (not sure of the exact date of the handover in jan?) So whether or not Joe is senile doesn't really matter anymore. It's the incomers mental state that matters now.

I think the point is that he, or rather his advisors, should have never been in office in the first place. They have a lot of Afghan blood on their hands.

Blood would have continued to be spilled if they had stayed. On balance i think they were right to get out.

Well, I'm not reading the mail and can only see the first bit of the other one. Do they actually say he has a diagnosis of senility?

These cabals are everywhere! Maybe if we rub some deep state into the affected areas?

I don't think Biden was the best choice of nominee in 2020 - though he did manage to defeat Trump - and he sure as fuck shouldn't have chosen to run again in 2024 - but I'm not sure if there's anything that damning in the WSJ report, 82-year-old man is a bit feeble and relied on aides, stop the presses. He should probably have been more open to the press despite the decline in his faculties. Maybe they should have pumped him full of Adderall and let him ramble to the press for hours, seems to have been a winning strategy for the Republicans and the crazy old man they nominated.

One of the WSJ's main sources was Joe fucking Manchin

One lawmaker who did get one-on-one time with Biden noticed that the president lacked stamina and heavily relied on his staff: Sen. Joe Manchin, the West Virginia Democrat-turned-independent who held up chunks of Biden’s legislative agenda during the first half of Biden’s term. Manchin said the job required a level of energy that he wasn’t sure Biden had been able to sustain.

“I just thought that maybe the president just lost that fight,” Manchin said in an interview. “The ability to continue to stay on, just grind it, grind it, grind it.”

Maybe you sapped his energy with your total refusal to support Democratic priorities like extending the tax credit that lifted millions of children out of poverty, Joe, I know that I would age extremely rapidly if I had to deal with Manchin's shit all the time
