Voting for them, is a vote for genocide.

Yeah Mick Whitley.
Preceded by Frank Field. Useless cunts.

Mick was/is from the Woodchurch estate. A thoughtful mediator type. They've changed the boundaries now to include South Wirral. So it's him against current South Wirral's Alison Mcgovern.

At the end of the day if Labour MPs had voted for a ceasfire it wouldn't be worth a wank.

If someone abstains on a vote to stop genocide, they support genocide.
Yes.

If you oppose a ceasefire, then you support war.

If you oppose a ceasefire when crimes against humanity are being committed, then you support crimes against humanity.

The UK is one of five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, and it is a military ally of the State of Israel. It could exert considerable pressure in favour of a ceasefire. MPs have a moral duty to vote for a ceasefire.

Labour MPs who abstained on the ceasefire vote are acting contrary to the Labour Party Rule Book, Chapter 1, Clause IV Part 3 of which states that Labour is committed to co-operating in the United Nations and other international bodies to secure peace. They ought to be suspended from the Labour Party for bringing the party into disrepute.

My MP (Labour) is not in that list. That doesn't mean he's against genocide, though I imagine he is.

I think these arguments are too simplistic, like assuming all brexit voters are racist.
It's a very simple thing to get right.

'We're having a vote in the commons about whether or not to call for a ceasefire in a place where a genocide is happening. You in?'

If your answer to that question as an MP is 'no', then you are making a small contribution towards the worldwide forces that are enabling that genocide instead of making a small contribution towards something that might stop it.

This isn't complicated.

Also, it's nothing like Brexit voters. These are MPs. They're paid to make decisions about things like this. It is literally their job.

For want of a nail the shoe was lost.
For want of a shoe the horse was lost.
For want of a horse the rider was lost.
For want of a rider the battle was lost.
For want of a battle the kingdom was lost.
And all for the want of a horseshoe nail.

Yes my MP is Helen Hayes.

I did get an email from her explaining she supported a ceasefire but could not vote for the "divisive" SNP motion

She explained that she had been getting loads of emails about Gaza and this was a very difficult decision

She is in Shadow Cabinet so would have lost her job.

She said she had been arguing at the highest levels for Labour to support a ceasefire. That she had been on visit to West Bank as an MP and had seen how settler violence and the State of Israel was causing a lot of problems for Palestinians.

She must have been getting a lot of pressure from Whips and Starmer

It is said that last minute deal was that MPs like her could publicly say they wanted a ceasefire as long as they did not vote for one.

Make of that what you will

I was not impressed.

She could have pointed to all the emails she had got and said Im voting for ceasefire as that is what my constituents ask for.

I do not think around my way she would have got stick for that.

Now Im seriously thinking of not voting for her next election

She put loyalty to Starmer before her constituents.

She btw did not do that for the previous leader.

Most times they're careerist cunts.
I've got a CV thicker than war and peace for sticking up for others and myself. Fuck em.

Unfortunately yes. Kevin Brennan. Probably factored in already that he won't be getting my vote.
He was never great, but at least in the past he's stood by some convictions (voting against the Iraq war).

At least it means I have absolutely no qualms about giving him a spunking cock next time.

As a side note, years ago, I lived in Canton briefly, a few doors down from him and every Halloween the kids would egg his house.

My MP is there. He's got a pretty good record as far as it goes but lately he's clung on to Starmer's coat tails like stink clings to shit. He's retiring next time round so I assume he's angling himself for a lordship or something.

He's endorsed his NEC-appointed successor so I won't be voting for him either.

Wow this sucks.
You expect tories to be arseholes.
I want a party I vote for to do the right thing regardless. Obviously the vote will do nothing, but a shadow party that is scared of even declaring that they think a ceasefire is the right thing to do. . . it means they can't be trusted to do the right thing in any situation.

I had dialogue with my MP about it and got incredibly frustrated at the total codswallop replies. "I definitely totally agree with a ceasefire and have been working with and listening to community groups but divisive motion". Oh do shut up.

Mine is.

Rushanara Ali.

This could cause her real problems. Lutfur Rahman's Aspire managed to kick out the Labour Mayor and council and there are plenty of Palestinian flags around here. A huge Bangladeshi community, who are obviously very pro Palestine. If Aspire put up a candidate she could be in trouble. I hope they don't, I don't like him at all.
