Is this a Tory free zone?

I recall some lefties going right back to the 70s who reckoned that we should all vote Tory to get a government that so fucked everybody off it would hasten the occurrence of the 'glorious day' when everybody took to the streets & so on. Rather naive & outdated idea I suppose & one I never subscribed to on the grounds that I would saw my own head off before I would vote Tory. :D

I find it difficult to vote as I tend to have pick and mix ideas and no political party I can see suits me, I find them all so dogmatic and ultimately self serving.

Anyone Tory voting here would be abused out. Urban 75 is not a platform for free speech.

Rather ironically I think there will come a day where many labour voters yearn for a more popular back in the days Tory party as UKIP and more far right wing parties tear votes from both camps and advance in popularity, UKIP from where I am standing are diet BNP.

I have a soft spot for Jeremy Corbyn who is my local mp who i have met, but the labour Party... no way, Blair killed me with his sinewy lying ways.

I might stand and vote for me under the banner of the Batty Party, that way I haven't wasted a vote:facepalm:

I think if someone is respectful and rational then people will respond in kind, even if they are tories. OK, so everyone might tell you that everything you're saying is wrong, and here are a million reasons why, but that's what debate is about. If you come across as just another right wing troll, you'll get a torrent of abuse which is exactly what you deserve, and probably crave for that matter.

The thing is that tories are very rarely respectful or rational. They're not interested in contrasting opinions. This is probably because tory ideology is a mere ratioanlisation of self-serving policies created by the wealthy for the wealthy, it's not a coherent position that stands up to any kind of logical or ethical scrutiny.

The survival of the tories has always depended on braying and bawling and bullying to drown whatever anyone else says. In the absence of allies and sycophants, they don't last long. So it's hardly surprising that when tories do crop up here, they generally act like braying wankers and are treated accordingly. They behave in much the same way in the house of commons, but there they've had several centuries to fill the place with stooges so that no matter what nonsense they come out with, it doesn't get properly challenged.

Here you get the reception you deserve, and if that reception says 'fuck off' then that's most likely because you can fuck off.

There are few out Tories here

There are many right wingers though

Some of my views are certainly right wing. I'm not a Tory tho, I despise them. Despise Labour too mind. Bunch of lying, expense account cheating, cash for questions bastards the lot of em.

The days when idealistic, well-meaning people went into politics are long gone. It only attracts self-serving bastards these days, and that's true throughout the entire spectrum of "left" to "right."

that might not be the most vote winning of party names though given that batty is patois for arse and battyman is patois for man who is interested in arse i.e a homophobic term. You'd be lucky to make your deposit back with a party name like that, it'd be nightmares.

I'm not so sure, the Greens in this bit of Lambeth seem okay so far.

They refused to support the Council's collaborating-with-austerity budget for the coming year, and they've been far more supportive to people on this housing estate (and others in the borough) than any from the majority parties.

I know... I was more on the Nora Batty train of thought. Having been several times to Jamaica I am shocked at the level of homophobia there.

I'm in a generous mood and will try to argue there's been some honourable Tory traditions such as its awkward squad lawyers determined to hold state agencies to account which can be seen through the pivotal role they played in creating the European Court Human Rights. That's something the Tories should be proud of but its not as its not even a centre-right party anymore but an intellectually light weight Tea Party of reactionary turds. Other honourable mentions are Joseph Chamberlain's civic reforms in Birmingham, Heseltine and Heath's contempt for Powell's racism, Disraeli's franchise extension and McMillan's council house building programme in the 50s.

Have you ever been to an SWP meeting?
