In what order do you put stuff on your burger?

AnnO'Neemus

Is so vanilla
I just had a burger and compiled it in the following order:

- bun top
- three slices of tomato
- slice of Cheddar cheese
- burger
- some salad leaves
- bun bottom

And I got the distinct feeling I'd done it wrong. Not least because I was too lazy to rummage in the fridge for pickle and/or chutney.

I think the cheese should go on top of the burger, though, so that it melts a bit.

What say you?

My ideal burger would be
bun top (toasted)
Fried onion
ketchup or relish
cheese
burger
cheese
mushrooms
bun bottom (toasted)

Sounds alright. Maybe put one of the tomato slabs between the burger and lettuce to stop the lettuce getting a bit too fucked from the heat.

I start with the bottom half of a white bap which is toasted on one side only then build up. Have I been doing it wrong?
a little imo. Toast both sides of both breads. The patty goes on the base, then the cheese. Then the red sauce and onions. Thus is a standard QP with cheese.

I knew someone would bring bacon into it, well yeah mushrooms as well then, fuckin battered onion rings as well. They all go on top of the cheese, they are additions to the basic unitary set up of bread, cheese and sauce

I hate eating a burger that I can't pick uo and bite without it all falling to pieces so I never want any more that what I described. Any more and it all starts going to shit.

Bun
Mayo
Onion (raw)
Lettuce
Burger
Cheese
Ketchup
Bun

This creates two distinct taste zones: the ketchup/burger/cheese axis and the lettuce/onion/mayo axis. Jumble these flavours up and you've got a total clusterfuck on your hands.

There needs to be a two sauce axis. Sauce on the bottom bun, sauce above the burger, cheese directly above the burger.

My brother has a thing about Lettuce touching the burger itself. In his opinion the residual heat makes the Lettuce soggy. I disagree. I think the burger needs to rest, and then the crispness of the Lettuce is maintained.
