I have never cheered for the Germans before. Not because of any ridiculous war-related rubbish, but because they've usually been either utterly dull or have had at least one member of the team so loathsome it tainted the rest of them (Harald Schumacher '82, Klinsmann always, Andy Moller '96). This team, however, is stuffed full of brilliant, exciting players. Muller's been fantastic, and Schweinsteiger, well. He's gone from irritating not-as-good-as-he-thinks-he-is tantruming winger/whinger to conductor of the orchestra in a few short years. I think they will win the tournament, much as my heart is with the Dutch.

i am so extremly pleased about the way we play this worldcup. its a pure pleasure to watch. germany is in a state of derlirium i hear out of suprise and because of the amount and quality of the goals.

my bro in law says that if we win this cup -he will retire as a football fan as they would give him all he could ever ask for.

competely crazy. i didn't think they would play so well in particular against argentina. sebia must be so pleased that they won in the intial round.

The germans have come up against som e really shit teams ( australia and england both played like pub teams ) and the argentine defence is non-existant so the early goal really fucked them and let Germany soak up the pressure and hit on the break which they are very good at . I don't think spain or Holland* will give an early goal away as easily or let the germans hit them on the break so much so what looks like a brilliant germany team might not look so good in the next couple of games



* I have predicted Netherlands will win the world cup so I'm assuming they beat Uruguay .

Me too. Made the terrible decision to pour one last vodka and cherry tango at midnight. Got to bed at 1, baby was up between 2 and 4 and I was too fucked to get up. The wife had to do it, then go to work at 7.30.

I expect I'm in bad books. There was a definite forced quality to her sunny demeanor this morning.
