GB News: a thread so you never have to watch it

In fairness, iirc, there's a scene in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy where Arthur Dent presses a red button that he's not supposed to. Whereupon, a sign lights up saying "please don't press this button again".

Douglas Adams was the writer.
there’s a similar scene involving Adam and Eve and an apple.

When my brother was 8 took a load of mates to one the hangers my Dad had at the time. Let them them sit in a couple of HS125's in at the time. My Dad was never brilliant at psychology and pointed out the one lever they were on no account to touch..was about 5 seconds before one of the little fuckers was retracting the landing gear

Fair enough. Dick Supertanksii is not on my radar.
Centrist gobshite. People donate to her on twatteX. Blamed 9/11 on Jews, which she has since deleted.
If you can be arsed ⬇️

Doesn’t seem all that centrist, really.

GB News today seem to be the only 'news' outlet 'reporting' that 'according to friends,' Jezza is forming a new party, which their sources claim will 'split the left?' I can't help but be a tad sceptical, but tbf they are a highly respected source of impartial information so who knows. I won't link directly but easy enough to find.

Looks like the Mail was first with this, yesterday morning, asking the question - 'Is former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn poised to set up rival party and deal election blow to Keir Starmer?'

Sir Keir Starmer faces the spectre of a rival 'real Labour' party led by Jeremy Corbyn, friends of the ex-party leader claimed last night.

They said that Mr Corbyn would decide 'within weeks' whether to launch a new political movement to capitalise on Left-wing disaffection with Sir Keir.

It would be 'an anti-war movement' that would appeal to Muslim voters who believe the Labour leader has betrayed them for not initially backing a ceasefire in the Israel/Gaza conflict.

Still reasons to be sceptical TBH.

They're on a winner really and in within weeks can run another story "Anti-semite decides against forming new party after heroic Mail article exposes plans".

As a detour, that controversial cleric has popped up again.

Calvin has had a haircut and looks quite the Anglo Catholic seminarian

spotted in the audience - Gavin Ashenden, former "Chaplain to the Queen" - resigned from the Church of England, joined the Ordinariat (Catholic lite for defectors from the Church of England)
Fellow broadcaster on GB News - comes out with all the usual codswallop about gays, woke taking over, lived in Channel Islands, voted Brexit, anti Critical Race Theory etc etc.

One wonders is this church a right wing club a notch or two beneath Nick Griffin's Crusaders?
Also is it some sort of displacement activity. For all Calvin's nauseating posing on TV he probably would be a hit on the gay club circuit.
As for Gavin Ashenden he's 2 months younger than me - and looks more of a wreck (close up).

They are an even smaller (in the UK at least) group than his former group (the FCE) were, and may not even have premises of their own or carry out regular services - the website doesn't mention any in the UK.

They are in a sort of communion with wider Catholicism, but not as much as the name would suggest (the Catholic Church does accept that a Catholic in extremis could partake in some sacraments administed by an NCC priest, but only with due regard to the circumstances).

"The Nordic Catholic Church", no more really needs to be said.
hmm, #notallnorwegians eh.

It was founded in Norway as a split from the protestant Church of Norway. It's thus the direct equivalent of the Anglo-Catholic splits from the Church of England. Like some of them it has a 'special relationship' with Roman Catholicism. I think in specific circumstances Roman Catholics can call on its 'priests' for certain functions (forgiveness of sins, eucharist, last rites). Exactly how desperate you'd have to be to call in Calvin I can't imagine.

Interesting he'd join this lot rather than one of the English Anglo-Catholic groupscules. I don't know if the English groups are marginally less publicly militant in their homophobia and misogyny. I suspect, however, that the principal reason is that the 'Nordic Catholic Church' is an extremely small pond in which he has a much bigger opportunity to be a 'big fish'.

Welcoming this "Crusader for his English Team", Bishop Roald Nikolai, their head honcho, said:
Most of us are warriors from the 1970’s to 1990’s and much in need of the youthful courage that Father Calvin will bring to our team. (...)
Calvin was probably one of the most well known and distinctive Christian voices in our country over the past two years, with his own massively successful weekly religious programme on GB TV and radio. His public persona as a courageous and articulate clergyman standing firmly on the platform of a distinct Christian anthropology that underpinned his defence of the sacrament of Holy Matrimony and the equality under God, of all people whatever their ethnicity. (...)
All of this took place against an all too familiar background of ongoing persecution by the enemies of free speech who are always attempting to sideline and harass orthodox Christians. The most horrible suffering is going on all over the world, but it was a shock to find out that Father Calvin had been singled out and fired by the owners of GB News for supporting his broadcaster colleague. Let us hope and pray that our role will be to support Father Calvin and stand together with other courageous and orthodox brethren whatever part of the church of Christ they find themselves part of.
ROFL.

No doubt this shared experience of 'persecution' accounts for this "crusader's" appearance on Tommy Robinson's podcast
where we talk about all things Britain, Christianity, and Islam

Initial reports that GB News attracted more than 1,000,000 viewers on New Year’s Day have been shot down.

Instead, GB News had only averaged about 33,000, clearly a massive drop from the original report.

A few days after the numbers were released, a Barb spokesperson announced the mistake and said some numbers that should have been attributed to BBC One and other channels may have instead gone to GB News.

LOL

Is the current BBC News policy due to this:
Question Time and the Daily Politics both have "representatives" of GB News, Torygraph etc every show lately.
BBC2 Newsnight seems to be holding out as the lone "liberal" BBC News programme. But for how long?
