Love that song but really can't see how it's pop. I mean I know genre boundaries are vague but this one's definitely outside pop to me.

Similarly with Shaggy, don't know how long that was at number one for, I'm including it in pop anyways, although it could also fit easily into dance, r&b, dancehall and reggae.

It's not even girls aloud's best song. Totally unmemorable, ie I can't remember hearing it before even though I must have. That one with the eskimo club was best imo.

If we're back to just going on what did well in the charts, though, then Pavarotti's back in the running in the 90s, and Eminem and Rage Against the Machine and loads of others are pop. That'd mean this was just a thread about best top twenty singles of the last twenty years, and that's a different topic, really.
the charts in 2003 were dominated by dancehall/r&b stuff though - half the rest of the songs posted on the thread are too. It's not like just the occasional R&B banger broke through - they were the charts.
