Well it was very "pop"ular. Isn't that what pop's all about?Love that song but really can't see how it's pop. I mean I know genre boundaries are vague but this one's definitely outside pop to me.

Similarly with Shaggy, don't know how long that was at number one for, I'm including it in pop anyways, although it could also fit easily into dance, r&b, dancehall and reggae.it was the biggest song of the year - four weeks at number 1, sound of the summer.

the charts in 2003 were dominated by dancehall/r&b stuff though - half the rest of the songs posted on the thread are too. It's not like just the occasional R&B banger broke through - they were the charts. If we're back to just going on what did well in the charts, though, then Pavarotti's back in the running in the 90s, and Eminem and Rage Against the Machine and loads of others are pop. That'd mean this was just a thread about best top twenty singles of the last twenty years, and that's a different topic, really.
Biology is brilliant! It's not even girls aloud's best song. Totally unmemorable, ie I can't remember hearing it before even though I must have. That one with the eskimo club was best imo.
Ah yeah - I love cheap thrills by Sia is a fucking belterwe could just do tracks ft. Sean Paul and still have a solid thread tbf

Love The Promise too.
Yeah especially as he had an album called "Dutty Pop", which qualifies him for this thread, no?we could just do tracks ft. Sean Paul and still have a solid thread tbf

Perhaps we need to employ a thread mergers and acquisitions specialist. We had this thread a few years ago for the early 00s R&B/Hip Hop pop bangers btw - loads in there that hasn't made it onto this thread yet
Early 00's Pop R&B/Dancehall/Hip-Hop Bangers
A golden age IMO. Timbaland & the Neptunes were at the top of their game and pulling everyone else with 'em, dancehall was going in the same direction, sean paul guested on everything AND STILL SOUNDED GREAT. Who needed guitars? Who needed the underground? it was all there in the top 30. Post...www.urban75.net
nah, this has a wider remit than that one (which also has loads of dead links)Perhaps we need to employ a thread mergers and acquisitions specialist.
Same here. Those were the only tracks I played from the cd. I might give it another listen sometime to see if I missed any hidden gems.I bought the Blu Cantrell album because I like Breathe and the rest was just bloody ballads apart from hit em up style. Awful,
None of the alternatives for greatests pop song of the last 20 years come near the best Sugababes songs for me. Also, Push the Button is the poppiest pop song of the last 20 years:
