First Official Portrait of Kate Middleton

I hope all goes well and the treatment works for her, my daughter had her cancer surgery around the same time, it affected her kids a lot and they are a bit older than the royals I can understand why they wanted a period of peace before the media feeding frenzy started

Everything else isn’t different though. Money doesn’t stop you having to have awful conversations with your children. Or them being terrified their mum is going to die.

Kate chose to become a member of the firm. Her kids didn’t.
Well yeah I did mention she has kids.

I suspect the delay was about finding ways to talk to the children, managing their responses and feelings, and strengthening them for the media shit show that they'll inevitably face about this at some point, now or later.

And that's before any consideration for prioritising their own shock fear rage anger grief about the Dx, navigating the weird family waters, and also William having to somehow deal with the parallel stuff between his mother and his wife wrt the media chase.

Plus. His dad has just been diagnosed with cancer, which means his own status as heir has been affected.

It's a lot to be dealing with.
They do belong to the taxpayer, but they have prioritised the private stuff. That's human, and even laudable.

How fucking weird would it have been to inform the world before doing the house keeping.

This situation is a perfect example of why the royal family is a rubbish idea. Dealing with something like this, where most people would expect some privacy, is incompatible with sticking yourself in some national goldfish bowl. It's obvious a large section of the country is going to go into speculation overdrive as soon as something that appears to be out of the ordinary happens. The idea that you can do anything apart from immediately being up front without it turning into a PR disaster doesn't work.

Have a look at their salaries - they’re on Glassdoor, £21k to £25k in London.
There’s no fucking way any such low paid relatively inexperienced employees would have such editorial policy powers, though. Not for such stuff as deciding whether any statement about the whereabouts or state of health of the future Queen is concerned. Never mind the decision fabricate a photograph that is passed of to the world’s media as a very recent snap of Kate and her kids in an attempt to conceal the truth. That kind of shit is well below any such staffer’s paygrade.

I’m not sure the identities of those who pull the strings of The Firm have even been plastered across the newspapers much. It bear in mind these will be the very same people who tried to get Meghan to handle her passport. They’re definitely savvier, more experienced, more powerful, and far better paid than the people who have in mind.

A good point has been made, earlier. Her children should have a say. They've been groomed into the family, funny dressing up clothes and all, from birth. Maybe they shouldn't have to.

Unlike many others, who have to make do with a disintegrating health service thanks to a parasite class asset-stripping everything and hoarding everything else.

I'm 100% team cancer on this one.
I'm not a fan of the royal family, but I can't agree with the bolded, ever. Yes, Kate is extremely privileged to have access to a first class medical team to give her regular check ups and pick stuff like this up early, and therefore has a much better chance of recovery than Joe Bloggs next door would. And that is grossly unfair, but Kate didn't cause that disparity between the haves and have nots. She's still a human being, and no one deserves cancer. What we should be doing is asking how to make that first class care more accessible to everybody.

I understand the sentiment here, but I can't agree with the bolded. In a very real sense the RF epitomise the processes that establish and perpetuate disparity between the haves and the have nots. She decided to throw her lot in with that.

Didn't she used to be nicknamed 'princess in training' or something like that when she was at school?

True, but I'm sure she didn't choose who to fall in love with. Even if she has got appalling taste in men.

Commenting on Urban not Kate...

Can't help but feel if at the time Margaret Thatcher had terminal cancer the responses on here then would be significantly different to Kate now.

I may be wrong.

Didn’t know about that, but a telling well known fact that leaked back when they started dating is that William’s close circle of friends referred to her mother as ‘Doors to Manual’ because they found it so ghastly/ funny she once worked as a flight attendant.

Even proper 1%er well connected wealthy people are contemptible in the eyes of the oxygen thief chinless wonder scumbags who hang around the inner Royal circles.

corrected for you :)

I wish her the best of luck.
I hope those responsible for this massive PR fuck-up are sacked They could have kept her disease private but make an announcement that she is unwell and would like to be left along, but what they did by faking things is stoked people's suspicions and added more stress to Kate 😠

The pathetic conspiracy twats need to take some responsibility too. If there wasn’t a market for all this shite. Fuck the ghoulish pathetic weirdos. I know most people on here are just joking around, it’s still part of the circus. hence the need for PR.

They can step away from it all any time they like. William and Kate could (OK they might still get media attention for a bit, but he doesn't have to be king if he doesn't want to).
A lot of us have been groomed into being poor working class, we get less of a choice.
If the kids grow up and decide they want to end the institution of Monarchy of their own volition, then good for them.
Until that happens, I'm going to be dubious about how put upon they all are.
