Filth by name. . .

There's now talk in parliament of sacking the coppers responsible for keeping this evil fucker in the met. Words like 'collusion' being used, which for ordinary mortals would lead to criminal charges rather than disciplinary proceedings.

They're sweating this time. They know consent for policing is on a knife edge.
yes. but they're not going to recover any public confidence by this tardy method. the only way forwards is to disband the metropolitan police and start all over again and anyone who thinks differently is clearly a nonce enabler.

if only there was an enthusiastic anarchist, not a professional agitator, someone who hasn't reached that level of cynicism, who would be able to devote his time to getting a campaign on this off the ground

Why aren't the police DBS checked on a yearly basis? Serious question.
I would say because of manpower and costs, off the top of my head.

But they should be.

And if they're currently serving, another force should do the checks.

Fucking shammer's halfway to saying disband the Met Keir Starmer suggests Met explore changing name in ‘root and branch’ review

And now:

"Two retired Met officers have been charged in connection with a suspected police paedophile ring being linked to the death of a serving chief inspector ..."

The Late Richard Watkinson, a serving Metropolitan Police Chief Inspector for "neighbourhoods policing" at the West Area Command Unit, was found dead on the same day he was due to answer bail to be charged with conspiracy to distribute or show indecent images of children, three counts of making indecent photos of a child, voyeurism and two counts of misconduct in public office.

PC David Longden-Thurgood is currently on trial, accused of not being willing to take “no for an answer” when he allegedly raped a businesswoman at her home in October 2020:

It is alleged that while assaulting the woman PC David Longden-Thurgood claimed “it feels too good I can’t stop now”. His trial continues.

The jury at in the trial of PC David Longden-Thurgood at Winchester Crown Court was discharged on 19 January 2023 after telling Judge Richard Parkes KC they could not come to a verdict on a count of rape, having deliberated for nine hours and 17 minutes.

Judge Richard Parkes KC ordered that PC David Longden-Thurgood's bail be extended as the prosecution takes the next two weeks to consider the option of a retrial.

Sounds like they need to sack the cops and hire the civilian who repeatedly did their job for them as a Public Safety Officer or something:

In November 2017, a member of the public found a hidden rucksack on the street behind Muhammad’s home that contained binoculars, duct tape, new-looking keys and a prescription with Unmathallegadoo’s name on it.

In March 2018, the same member of the public found two crossbows, crossbow arrows, a harpoon and a bottle of acid in the same hiding place, but the finds were not linked.

And again.... 'Safer Schools' officer FFS

The four counts of sexual activity with a girl aged 13-15 took place in 2019 before he joined the Met in 2020. They only came to light after he had become a Safer Schools officer
when the family of a [different] 16-year-old girl called police to raise concerns about the fact she had recently been in a relationship with PC Chehab, which they believed began when she was 15 years old.

Prior to commencing his role as a Safer Schools Officer he was also subject to further Child and Vulnerable Group Supervision vetting, in line with the current vetting standards for all those who work with children and young person. (...)
Met Press Statement about Chehab

So he had been through more than one layer of "checks".

On Monday the Times reported that the Met had dropped face to face interviews with new recruits during the pandemic and had still not reinstated them.

Yeh the vaunted vetting and checks will only pick up things already known to someone. And someone like this who is aiming for the paedo jackpot, well it's fair to expect they'd manage to defer gratification till they're in place

from the Guardian story:

When police analysed his devices, they found messages between Chehab and a 14-year-old girl engaging in sexual communication. The teenager later provided evidence to police that they had entered into a sexual relationship in 2019, when she was 14....Chehab was arrested in August 2021 and placed on restricted duties, including having to work within the confines of a police building in a non-public-facing role, and having no contact with schools or children.
Not suspended, or anything; FFS.
