Cardiff Crown Court heard Mr Stringer, who works for Gwent Police, was arrested after the girl spoke to a teaching assistant at her school.

Ian Wright, prosecuting, told the jury the girl said Mr Stringer "would touch her in a sexual way".
He added she claimed Mr Stringer would "show her videos of half naked girls" and "cause her to mimic what the females were doing in the video".

Mr Wright said the girl’s parents were called to the school and the police were contacted.
Mr Stringer was arrested later that day.

Mr Stringer pleaded not guilty to two counts of sexual assault, two of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, and one of causing a child to watch a sexual act.

It may be wise to exercise some caution with comments on an ongoing criminal case, particularly as this is a retrial.

Yesterday, Metropolitan Police officer PC Adam Merriman, who is attached to a proactive team covering Barnet, Brent and Harrow, appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court charged with three counts of making an indecent image of a child, three counts of distributing an indecent image of a child, and resisting arrest.

PC Adam Merriman pleaded guilty to all seven offences and was remanded in custody to next appear at Southwark Crown Court for sentencing on a date to be confirmed:

The Metropolitan Police's Directorate of Professional Standards stated that they are aware of the case. Yesterday, PC Adam Merriman resigned from the Metropolitan Police. "Misconduct proceedings will now take place as soon as possible."

In 2017, PC Adam Merriman was acquitted of the harassment and assault of a woman known to him, fellow police officer Alex McLaren (his ex-girlfriend), following a trial at Westminster Magistrates’ Court. On that occasion, it was alleged that PC Adam Merriman had left a sex toy on his ex-girlfriend's car bonnet to "embarrass" her after she ended their relationship. Westminster Magistrates Court was told that he checked Miss McLaren’s phone and had found out that she had kissed another male police officer during a night out. PC Adam Merriman allegedly sent her a text message which read: "You don't know what I'm capable of." He also allegedly shoulder barged his former girlfriend when she was by her door.

An investigation was carried out by the Metropolitan Police's Directorate of Professional Standards who found a case to answer at the level of misconduct. In any event, PC Adam Merriman remained in the Metropolitan Police.

It has been reported today that former Metropolitan Police officer, former PC Adam Merriman of Bletchley, Milton Keynes, has been charged with a series of sexual offences against children.

Former PC Adam Merriman has been charged with sexual assault by touching of a child under 13, six counts of arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence, and two counts of sexual activity in the presence of a child.

Former PC Adam Merriman is also charged with three counts of making indecent images of a child, possession of extreme pornographic images and possession of a prohibited image of a child.

Former PC Adam Merriman is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 4 September 2024.

Gwent Police officer Huw Orphan, from Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, has appeared before Cardiff Crown Court to deny causing grievous bodily harm with intent in April 2020 - he is accused of breaking his wife’s back by kicking her down the stairs (he was married to a fellow officer, Amy Burley).

Gwent Police officer PC Huw Orphan from Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, has been convicted of grievous bodily harm following his trial at Cardiff Crown Court after breaking his wife’s back by kicking her down stairs in their home.

Amy Burley, also an officer, suffered a broken back in the attack in the early hours of 8 April 2020. She told the court she was left with ongoing pain and struggled to play with her children.

Former PC Dean Dempster of Langford Road, Manchester. who sexually assaulted a six-year-old girl while on duty, has now been dismissed without notice at an accelerated misconduct hearing and added to the College of Policing Barred List at a hearing on 2 May 2024.

Former PC Dean Dempster had been suspended since he was charged on 31 December 2023, and admitted to the sexual assault of the child at Liverpool Crown Court in February 2024.

PC Adam Aspinall Da Encarnacao was released on unconditional bail until a hearing at Southwark Crown Court on 9 September 2024, and was careful to ensure that he held same book in his arms as he was photographed leaving the court.

Former PC Ryan Althorpe, Meadow Crescent, Ipswich, has been sentenced to 10 months’ imprisonment at Ipswich Crown Court, after being found guilty of two counts of misconduct in a public office whilst he was serving as a Suffolk police officer.

The offences took place between 16 November 2020 and 3 December 2020 when former PC Ryan Althorpe was a temporary sergeant based at Woodbridge in the Safer Neighbourhood Team.

The charges were attempting to engage a female into sexually inappropriate conversation with a view to engaging in sexual activity with that person and wilful neglect to record her disclosure of a non-recent rape allegation.

Ipswich Crown Court heard how former PC Ryan Althorpe received private disclosure via social media on Facebook of an alleged non-recent rape by the complainant, a woman aged in her 30s.

The messages began on 16 November 2020 and despite the conversation being initially positive, the tone quickly changed and former PC Ryan Althorpe proceeded to communicate explicit sexual comments towards the complainant via private messaging on Facebook whilst discussing the rape allegation.

The court heard how former PC Ryan Althorpe repeatedly requested video calls, phone calls and photo exchanges. The final message took place on 3 December 2020. The victim then subsequently confided to someone she knew and she then reported it to police.

Former PC Ryan Althorpe was suspended from all duties and operational duties as a police officer in September 2021 once the allegations came to light and he resigned from Suffolk Constabulary from his role as a police officer in June 2022.

Former PC Ryan Althorpe also failed to record the victim’s report of rape that took place in November 2019 - the second of the misconduct in a public office charge he was facing:
