Out of the options given, carrot is out and out the best option - although onions (especially red onion and spring onions), brassicas, leafy stuff, and sweetcorn are also good.

In the "other" category, I particularly like raw courgette and peppers (any colour)
 
Like my old man, I enjoy a serious radish habit. Give me a bag of them and a salt cellar and I’m like a pig in shit.
I recall radishes being a bit too hot for me - though I like a few radish shoots mixed in with my alfalfa ... I keep meaning to buy a mooli - I could always cook it if I didn't like it raw.
I like most things cruciferous - except rocket - and I like prepared mustard but only Dijon.

This reminds me I need to get sprouting again - though this time of year my sprouting windowsill gets a bit warm and I have problems with spoilage ...
I definitely want to arrange a regular supply of watercress in the not too distant future - around here it's very expensive and only available spoiled by the addition of rocket ...
 
I love radishes - happily eat a bag in one go. Don't add salt though - that'd be weird.

You need to be a little less vague about the bag size.
 
Radishes are ace, the leaves are good too. You can eat raw or cook both parts, I like to slice the radish and stir fry that and the greens with garlic and ginger and a bit of soy sauce with other veg too.
 
Does anyone have a juicer? I get loads of apples around now that I mainly fail to use. I've seen one for £50 which looks tempting but I've no real idea what I'm looking for aside from easy to clean & gets a reasonable amount of juice out.

My advice is to use mostly carrots - sweet fruit juice is generally a bad idea...
 
yes fair enough, they are eaters and quite sweet. Is that mainly for protecting teeth though? Might still be an idea for the carrots because I have difficulty getting through them, too.
 
I have an unused one I bought in the bad old days when I drank "Innocent" smoothies by the litre...
I hesitate to give it away because fruit juice isn't much better than cola...

Fruit juice gives you a crazy number of calories without the benefits...
I habitually eat an apple a day in the park - but I might be better to eat the skin and give the rest to the squirrels instead of just the core.
Even juicing carrots may give you a vitamin A overload and you don't get the fibre ..
 
I would dread the cleaning though, even if used once a week. I'm sure a dishwasher would help but I don't have one of them either.
 
I don't drink juice at all these days - except tomato.
The trouble with juicers is you throw away the fibre which is one of the best parts.
I would feel wasteful throwing pulp in the compost ...
 
From what I remember, you have to clean it straight away. Unless they've improved, it's still fiddly even then.
Fair point. I do actually have an old home-made cider press but it didn't seem up to the job when I tried it. If I could make a fair amount of cider with the juice it might be worth the cleaning. Carrot and apple also sounds good.
