F1 2020

Formula One boss Flavio Briatore, (prominent COVID sceptic who attacked the Italian Govt for closing nightclubs last week) is seriously ill in hospital with coronavirus after catching it in his own Italian nightclub - together with 60 of his own employees.

Let’s not forget, this is the genius who has guided Fernando Alonso’s career. All those well timed switches away from top teams to outfits which were less competitive at the time. Clearly a strategic mastermind!

What a fucking bellend.

I even felt a bit sorry for him until I saw Badgers post.

Now I just feel sorry for his staff. There's been loads of #plagueraves going on in Italy, some scary pics been coming out with big name DJ's coining it in.

Biter is bit.

Driver rumors
Word is that Haas will run with new drivers in 2021. Both Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen will be shown the door, and that Hulkenberg will replace Grosjean and Sergio Perez will replace K-Mag of he is released by Racing Point, if either of those drivers are not available two young guns are on the list, Callum Ilott and Robert Shwartzman.

If Kimi hangs up his helmet the rumor is that Mick Schumacher will take his seat at Alfa Romeo. It also seems that there will not be any announcement at Spa on Vettel moving to Aston Martin (Racing Point). It was reported that a contract between both parties would be signed this weekend but now that seems unlikely.

Has Bernie Ecclestone bought Williams?

There is some interesting news about Williams and its sale to Dorilton management LLC. Documents. Documents appear to show that the purchase of the Williams shares were done via a subsidiary company called BCE Limited, a UK company with an interesting name. Dorilton was set up by two ex-Rothschild bankers, Mathew Savage, the Chairman, and Darren Fultz, the CEO back in 2009. BCE Limited is a rather more ‘shady’ enterprise, of which little is know but it is believed to be backed by a ‘wealthy family’.

Is the name BCE a clue as to which individual and their family are behind it. Some information points to James Matthews, a former F3 driver turned businessman who is married to Pippa Middleton, sister to the Dutchess of Cambridge, Catherine Windsor. But there could be a clue in the name of the firm itself BCE, could that be Bernard Charles Ecclestone.

I've done a little digging and the only director I can find is a Christopher Bourke born 1958 (he only seems to appear as a director of this one company, there are many directors/people named Christopher Bourke but just the one born in 1958), the company is active and was registered in March 2018, its Registered office address Brunel House 340 Firecrest Court, Centre Park, Warrington, Cheshire, United Kingdom, WA1 1RG (looks like an office building with many companies listed), its stated business is " Other engineering activities".

Morning RaceFam :)

Love the Spa track myself. Would love to go one day when life allows. Not going to catch first practice but will check in later.

Good morning all :)

BCE Ltd was involved in the buyout of Williams, but this morning Claire Williams has said "Bernie has nothing to do with our new ownership" and one would expect her to know who owns the company. Just a coincidence then it seems.

The registered address is an accountancy firm. I also use them for my company :D

The standout performers for quali were Renault, if you ask me (I know you didn‘t 😜).

I wonder if they can hold those positions in the race tomorrow, or will they slip back behind the McLarens and RPs? I’m looking forwards to the slipstreaming battle up the hill on the first lap.

Let’s hope those Pirelli tyres can last the race without causing any accidents.

I was thinking that anyone who beats Hammy to pole would truly deserve it, because they'd have to break a track record to get it.
Hamilton breaking his own new lap record to take pole. Another imperious lap/pole for him. Half a second ahead of Valerie who was hardly ahead of Verstappen :hmm:

Fair play to Danny Ricciardo for second row. I fear he will not end the race up there :(

Am away from home so recorded and watched later hence absence from the thread.

Good morning race fans, it looks like there is not going to be rain today at Spa during the race but maybe later in the evening.

Ferrari claim that all their problems are down to tyres :hmm: and according to Pirelli the fastest way with their tyres is starting on the soft and changing to hard, which if true means that Danny Ric is the only one on the first 2 grid rows to be on the best strategy, if true it should make for an interesting first few laps, the soft is meant to be about 8/10th faster them the medium. Pirelli say soft and hard is best for a 1 stop or soft, soft and medium is best for a 2 stop.

Speed trap results are interesting, with Ferrari engine cars taking all 5 of the slowest places;
