F1 2020

What chance of a penalty for LeClerc for the unsafe release into Stroll’s path? On the one hand, it’s a slam dunk, Stroll had to slam on the brakes. On the other, it’s Ferrari (the untouchable team) and unsafe releases in quali don’t seem to get punished often, as the full pit crews are not in harm’s way.

I think they’ll get a token fine, maybe €5,000.

Hmm... it seems the stewards said it wasn't an obvious unsafe release, so no penalty.

I'd like a few pints of whatever stewards drink these days.

ETA: not even a token fine of 5p.

Just overall, I do think the whole “unsafe release“ thing is not treated seriously enough, or let’s say punished harshly enough. During a race you’ve got mechanics, camera operators, FIA observers, all standing around in the pitlane and vulnerable to getting injured if a car gets suspension damage from a light collision and loses steering control.

In the cases where “unsafe release” is judged to have happened, the penalty is usually a 5 sec race time addition, maybe a fairly small fine for the team on top of that. It’s probably one of those things which will get tightened up on only after someone gets hurt :(

Looking like fine weather at Silverstone for the race  Lewis has every right to be feeling confident, I do hope there‘s no mishaps or reliability gotchas.

Good morning, looks like we could have a good race between the rest of the top 13 today (behind Mercedes), I say 13 as the hulk qualified 13 and I think he has something to prove. The only penalties appear to be Kvyat and Russell, I think it will be a one stop race for most and the best chance for those starting of the softs to move up will be off the line in what is a long run to the first corner.

My money is on Lewis lapping everyone up to 7th or higher, that bet is just so I have some interest in what he is doing out there in front :)

The latest rumor about Vettel is he could move to AlphaTauri but I think it very unlikely, Aston Martin is where he will land I believe, but there is still the question of the FIA looking into the "Pink Mercedes", if they find against Racing Point, I think Vettel may not land there.
