F1 2020

Seems like the RP team* are ahead of Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren on one lap pace. I wonder if we will see a Perez podium finish?

I’m not sure F1 should be about taking lots of photos of the fastest car one year then faithfully copying it yourself the next year. Clearly it works well though.

*Racing under Protest

Morning all, I don't understand the protests over Racing Point, the car was looked at by the stewards and the Racing Point showed the FIA how they designed the car and it was ruled legal. Teams playing politics to try and unsettle each other because their car is not fast enough.

Ferrari have finally admitted that they had to make changes to their power-unit because of the FIA investegation at the end of last season and haven't been able to get that power back

Sky F1 is doing an analysis of the issue now.

While Ferrari have admitted the FIA made them make changes, I'd like to hear the FIA and Ferrari explain what they had to change and why, were they cheating?

Have Ferrari removed Vettel's name from his jacket? I wonder if Leclerc still has his name on his jacket :hmm:

An interesting start to the race then with Racing Point starting on the slower tyre in 3 and 4 with the cars behind them all starting on the soft, I hope the McLarens catch them fast

is the pressure of the main team starting to get at Albion

or is he having marko adding more pressure on him

does not look comfortable this weekend

Presumably they think they have enough pace advantage over the following cars that even on the slower tyre, with the benefit of track position, they’ll keep them behind then run longer to cement the advantage. Hungary is not known as an easy place to overtake after all, despite Nigel Mansell’s storming charge thru the field back whenever it was.

Quite likely they have started to lean on him a bit now the training wheels are off and he’s expected to deliver on a level closer to Max. I can’t remember if he’s signed up for next year, but I suppose they are asking themselves whether he’s the right guy for that seat going forwards. One thing he has in his favour is both Alpha Tauri seats are filled by guys who’ve already been booted from the main team, so if they want to replace Albon they might look to “do a Verstappen“ by offering a drive to whoever is seen as the next big star in the lower categories. Mick Schumacher? Last I heard his results were not measuring up to level of expectation that his family name creates, but I’ve not been checking lately.

Most likely they want to keep Albon but need to encourage him to push his limits more.

Having set the car for Max and even he is struggle to make it competitive whilst driving the wheels of the car

not sure who else they can put in the spare car and keep up with him

Maybe a cheap vettel signing would of been a good thing

he is going to spend a year in an shitty red car set up for charles

Good morning all, rain is in the air but no-one seems to know if it will fall and if it does when, so that could make for an interesting race as Pirelli say that a two stop for those starting on the softs is quicker than a one stop (soft, soft, medium is the best option). The best option for those starting of softs that is, as those starting on mediums can one stop, if they fancy keeping the softs on for around 30 to 35 laps at the end of the race,

With Racing Point starting on the second row on mediums Ferrari and Red Bulls best chance is to try and get past by the first corner, as it a long run off the start, if they get past and can't make a good gap they will just lose position later in the race. This is a race among the midfield today as I can't see anyone bothering the Mercedes out front, only badly timed rain or an accident will change the result of this race.

Albon is the best of the rest at both Red Bull teams at the moment, but reports keep running in the press that Dietrich Mateschitz wants Vettel back in the team. It is claimed that Mateschitzhas told Helmut Marko he wants Vettel back but Christian Horner isn't keen as he believes Albon will come good given time. If it is true that Mateschitz wants Vettel but Horner doesn't, who will win the owner of the team or the the teem boss.
