England v Slovakia 5pm 30/6

Southgate is famously rumoured to be the player who said of an Eriksson halftime team talk "We needed Churchill but we got Iain Duncan-Smith".

We'll have to wait and see who we get this time.

You can't deny his record and what that means but Kane looks like he's playing Sunday league out there. Some of that was embarrassing for him.

Yeah, it's really bizarre.

The whole team, really. I never quite bought into the world beaters hype, but we've been better than this at recent tournaments

Yep, at one point on the right side of the pitch two yards inside our half hitting a long pass then wheezing towards the opposition goal at about 3 mph. With piles

I don't have anything against Trippier, but he's obviously not able to pay left back. Every time it comes he has to switch on to his right and it just comes inside so there is no outlet. Tragic he didn't bring Mitchell.

Sorry quoted you by accident.

Embarrassing here. The Portuguese all briefly laughed when they scored .There are two other English who've just talked through the game and I'm sitting at a table with George the Romanian who is trying to be polite about England .
Awkward English embarrassment seems appropriate

Would love to know anyone not from England who thinks this has been good.

And let's face it, if we tried to put a positive spin on this performance, we'd get absolutely pilloried by other nations as delusional and entitled.
/serious mode engaged/

Yeah, nobody thinks England have been any good, but the tweet is still accurate.

The problem is that there’s no single clear vision of what an England attack looks like. Without that, the team relies on individual players to do something imaginative. But it’s hard to do that without knowing where your team mates are going to be in 5 seconds’ time. England have no “commander’s intent”, no clarity of purpose.

Everybody screaming for change. Lee Dixon is "sure he's made some tactical changes but can't see them at the moment".

Southgate changes nothing.

Masterclass.
