Donald Trump, the road that might not lead to the White House!

His answer to his claims of being able to sexually assault women because of his status is 'it's locker room talk'.

What will his attempted comeback be if tapes emerge where he's calling people niggers?

Well, quite. I suppose what I was getting at was "how much worse do revelations that he may have used the N-word actually make things?".

Which is not to diminish the offensiveness of the term, nor his use of it...just that we must be getting into incremental appallingness by now. Or maybe that's only significant because I'm neither female nor black.

Are you suggesting that if these tapes exist, that they needn't be released because it's not of importance?

At this point, smearing Trump is about nailing down any undecided voters, or ensuring that anti-Trump voters actually go out to the polls and vote.

Trumps core supporters are committed to him, no matter what.

This sounds right.
Eg) Hillary's twitter has a video montage of all the hideous things Trump's said to and about women, and urges all women to go out and vote, "women have the power to stop Trump' it says, with links to how to register to vote / check your status etc.

No!!! Chuck as many logs on the fire as possible! It's just that I'm wondering what he'd have to do to make his situation significantly worse - he seems to have pretty much jumped the shark in terms of managing to cause offence to the widest possible range of people, and seems to be carrying on as usual...

What's evidence got to do with anything?

Is there any evidence that Clinton raped anyone?
There's a double standard at work.

Clinton is being treated like a regular politician, where a mere whiff of scandal or falsehood can be damaging [see: the earlier discussion about British politics]

It seems that Trump is being judged against the standard of a reality-tv huckster. ie weekly or daily scandals are revealed, without changing the minds of his followers, and if he is able to act like a normal person for thirty minutes in a row, he is deemed to be 'doing well'.

Each state has a number of delegates to the college, roughly by population size. The delegates are largely honour bound to vote for the winner of the popular vote - and almost certainly do, but that's where the excitement might come in with this election. In a couple of states I think there's local legislation that says they have to vote with the popular vote. May also be the odd one where they split their electoral college votes proportionally (or have I dreamt that??). It's possible to win the popular vote but lose the election (2000, Gore - and at least one other time).

Also some states have a winner takes all approach, the candidate with the most votes in a state takes all that's states votes, while others have a district by district split, AND some votes go to whomever gets the most votes state wide. Its how Gore lost 2000 despite winning more than half a million votes nationally.

It also goes some way to explaining how certain states are battle ground states and others not. Instead of candidates fighting a truly national campaign because some states are overwhelmingly blue and some overwhelmingly red. The fight is concentrated in states like Ohio and Philly with both them having a large number of electorate college votes and having a fairly even split between democrat and republican. Hence Alaska and Hawai and virtually ignored, Alaska is overwhelming Republican while Hawaii is solid democrat and because of their small population size there's little to gain fighting there.

Alpha male locker room banter. Who hasn't shat on a TV studio floor?
On the sunny side, I've seen a lot of male people now being really genuinely angry about his 'locker room banter' excuse, his claim that hey lets be honest that's just what us guys are like when you're not looking thing.

In some way the discussion of Donald is a measure of where we are at presently and so it has some redeeming features.

It's actually federal law that you cannot mandate a delegate. Maine and Nebraska are the only states that don't do winner takes all, but the way they do it (and the fact that they both have small populations) means the loser can only possibly win one delegate from each, and it's very likely they wont even do that, even in a close vote.

Gosh, you're an upbeat lady!

The 1st district (Omaha and surrounding area) broke off for Obama in the last election--not that it made a real difference, as you mentioned.

A federal judge has ordered a status conference hearing after a woman filed a lawsuit claiming Donald Trump raped her when she was 13-years-old in 1994.

In the lawsuit a witness, identified by the pseudonym Tiffany Doe, alleges she saw Mr Trump and billionaire-paedophile Jeffrey Epstein repeatedly rape the plaintiff, identified as Jane Doe.

Would you still support the anti-Clinton after this? I mean like if you had to choose

I think you completely misunderstand . I don't support this cunt . I oppose Clinton and every thing she represents and has committed ..along with her backers..with every fibre of my being. Genocide...I'll spell that out..GENOCIDE.. and warmongering..at the very least..should make one inherently unfit for office . I view the moral hysteria about Trumps record of shit talk etc with complete disdain. Compared to the death of millions and the deliberate destruction of a succession of nations , and the attempts to destroy more, Trumps bad points..in fact he's a walking bad point..aren't even a blip. And I regard anyone up on their moral high horse over it as a total and utter hypocrite . Among other things, including latent racism .

So no, my choice wouldn't change in the slightest. In fact recent events in the middle east have reinforced that choice.

As has that latest debate .

Tonight Clinton should just walk on stage and instead of shaking Trumps hand, she should just unload a can of mace in his orange face till it's empty, and then for 90 minutes we watch him writhing on the floor, while she occasionally kicks him while wearing 18 hole doc martins.

No. She should have apologised to the parents of the half million or so Iraqi children her and her rapist husband killed . As well as apologised to her husbands rape victims, particularly the ones she went after . and even that rape victim..the child who'd been kidnapped beaten and raped that she took to the cleaners and cackled about on tape afterwards . That might have been worth seeing .

Instead she went on and spoke about how she intends to start world war 3 . While engaging in utter hypocrisy as regards Trumps shitty attitude to women . As if her rapist husband and her own treatment of rape victims never existed . She's still way worse than Trump on every level. Including her witches hair .

This particular 'crime' needs to be put away. She was doing her job as a defence lawyer, and afterwards she may well have laughed with someone about aspects of the case. People who do grim jobs often laugh about bits of it - shouldn't read too much into that or make much of it at all really.

When it comes from someone who also cackled on tape over footage of a man being anally raped with a bayonet ...after she destroyed his country as well.. there's a pattern of psychopathy . Something her own husbands rape victims noticed in her behaviour as well .

This whole thing is just so fucking sordid and revolting. It's made a joke of American politics.

I'd be seriously embarrassed and pissed off if I was a Yank.

I just had a chat with my downstairs neighbour who was born in the US of A and knows a bit about polling and demographics (works in digital advertising).
She did not say anything reassuring.

She suggested that in the areas where Trump has the most appeal, its women who are taking all the post industrial jobs (services) and that the anti-women vote is actually a thing.

She said her Dad is one of them, worked all his life in a newspaper factory, people are being laid off, he's an ageing biker believes men are men etc.:(

So most media outlets seem to have him winning that. what the actual fuck.

'i dont know anything about russia'

just what you want in a president.

Compared to Clintons " I'm going to start a war with Russia " ???

Did you actually miss that bit about her imposing a no fly zone in Syria ? Are you aware the Russians are flying quite a few planes over Syria ? Do you realise a no fly zone entails shooting them down as well as wiping out their extensive air defence systems ?

Do you want that as a president ?

Do you think the Russian response to that will be a shrug of the shoulders ? It'll be a declaration of all out war .

I would agree with that. I read something recently that suggested that women (and especially African American women) are achieving more higher degrees than men. I do a lot of work with grad students and there does seem to be more women than men doing the work that leads to Phds and JDs. If true, that won't go down well with working class white men.
