Donald Trump the road that might not lead to the White House - Redux 2024 thread.

My grasp of economics is poor to non-existent. Is there any truth to this image?

It was prefaced with this:

If america lived on its own. as soon as it suffers this great contraction, the belligerents of the world will make their moves taking over what america once kept in check. america's world will get much smaller and it's resources will be far less.
the problem is america set up a system that many people do not like but now work within. pull the plug on it means pulling the plug on a lot of things around the world. there will be a huge amount of resentment.

It's like the body builder who suddenly decides to go on a big diet and dial down the training. you will be challenged because you've been pushing people around for a long time... and you've been propping up some folks who won't fare well, either.

But aside from all that. trump is not the guy to do it. he is sloppy, lazy, selfish, and is surrounded by people who are only in it for what they can get out of it for themselves. they will abandon ship at the first sign of trouble. they won't stick around through 4-5 years of bad times.

and followed with this:

Per Brian Beutler: “Trump’s top backer, whom Trump has promised to hand this very remit, acknowledges the plan is to crash the economy and markets so they can rebuild society in MAGA’s image. I don’t think most Trump voters were in on that plan!”

????

How much effect is the Republican vote suppression stuff in red states going to have though?
The removing felons from the voting roll mainly affects men. Most men are in his column due to Rogan bro shit etc. and generalised misogyny, that could backfire. Don’t know about the other crooked stuff they get up to (reducing polling stations in Democrat-leaning areas and so on). Think a lot of this was in place last time round too, so maybe nothing more than it has done in the past.

Ricky Martin has said he's supporting Harris.

(I've no idea what Trump's views on gay people are but given he's misogynistic, racist and ableist, I'm guessing they're not good. And a gay Puerto Rican is surely beyond the pale.)

Try this:

Kansas has been slowly turning purple. They had a Republican governor who did massive cuts to the budget, while giving tax breaks to the wealthy. It crashed the economy, caused schools across the state to close in the middle of the year due to lack of funds, and meant massive cuts in services. It totally pissed people off. In 2020, Bernie Sanders won the Democratic primary, if that give you any idea of the political shift in Kansas.
