Donald Trump - MAGAtwat news and discussion

"Butcher's" would indicate possession by a single butcher or poster called Butcher, unless you were using it as a contraction of "Butcher is".

"Butchers' " kind of works but isn't really necessary. English doesn't tend to use apostrophes for omissions (in place of missing letters) when the word in question is a shortened version of someone's name. It might be grammatically correct in some contexts (? not sure about this, just arse-covering before better pedants arrive) but it comes across as weirdly formal on here.
It was how he wrote his name, so quoting it without the apostrophe is entirely appropriate. Of course, he should have included the apostrophe as it is the apron of the butcher. But he didn’t so we needn’t.

It felt wrong saying just butchers even though he uses no apostrophe. So I prefer butcher's.

Or the apron of the butchers. We shall never know. :(

Yeah, that too.

That was my reference, not the poster you’re quoting. I added the apostrophe cos it seemed correct. In fact, I think I was wrong, as I think there’s probably only one butcher in in butchersapron so it should have been butcher’s
It's not important whether or not the apostrophisation was correct. What is important is whether the poster responding to you decided to repeat it without remark, as one would when discussing a character with whom you were both familiar. When I say "important", I mean to people who (with a little prompting) get excited on bulletin boards.

Is there a way to post links to YouTube videos as a text link only without the thumbnail? That might help I think.
Yep, that's definitely possible, you just need to type out the text first and then select it to add the link in, so it appears like here's the Teenage Mutant Turtles chatting some shite. Do reckon that might be helpful in future.
I am not a spam cannon, how dare you? I don't only post from TMT, but so what if I did? The vids I post are not trash content farms. The people I watch are relevant and experts in their field, which includes lots of lawyers, political scientists and journalists.
That might be the problem, we hate lawyers, political scientists and journalists. Do you have any videos from autonomous affinity groups?
It's not like quality and accessibility of sources hasn't been a constant bone of contention on Urban over the last twenty years anyway. Try linking to RT or The Canary, or indeed Twitter on some threads.
Yeah, having thought about it a bit I do reckon that Canary/Skwawkbox is very much the closest comparison for these rubbish mutant turtle videos - it's not that they're outspokenly against "our" values" in the same way as the Sun or Mail, it's just that they're extremely unreliable and manipulative while claiming some level of support for those values.
Is it a fucking full moon or something? OU and tooch are being far more weird than even their regular weirdo-selves normally are.
You sure about that? I don't think it's great, but I do feel like being a weird arsey pedant is entirely in character for both their posting styles.
butchersapron was something else - really good sharp political analysis with an even sharper tongue. He didn't like me much although he eventually left me alone which I was very grateful for.

He wasn't above posting shit himself though and was hardly coherent some nights. My favourite was on an 'are you an atheist' type thread which I made the mistake of saying that I thought I was an agnostic.

He didn't like that and his final (as I recall and this must have been a good 15 years ago) post was late at night when he directed two paragraphs of what seemed to be venomous unconnected ramblings at me but I don't think I understood anything except most of the individual words :D.
I don't think it's been 15 years, I'm pretty new here and I'm sure I remember him having a thorough go at me in 2022 or so because he thought I was friends with someone who'd been to Oxbridge.
It is noted that you have taken on board my teachings and used scare quotes to add meaning to your writing. Keep up the good work.
Fascinating, what else is in the teaches of teuchter?

pah newb he's been having a go at me since before 2010 (although now I look back and some posts he wasn't having a go at me  ).

Aha think I’ve got it.

OU is the leader of the urban tribe, guarding the waterhole (the boards), and beats down the AV forum refugee tribe using the bone - a metaphor for a text based discussion forum being superior to content free posts with links to youtube videos

The monolith represents the monolithic soft liberalism that has crept into P&P in recent years

Open the dustbin doors, Hal

Tldr?

Trump's pick for education is under scrutiny in a lawsuit about alleged abuse of boys which is now on hold.

It's alleged that the McMahons failed to do anything about it.

The lawsuit raises questions of what McMahon knew and when at the time she was head of the professional wrestling company and a ringside announcer allegedly preyed on underage boys. The pause has the potential to delay the case through any Senate confirmation proceeding for McMahon, who denies the allegations.

Yes, whilst balancing spinning plates.

Mic drop...

I don’t hate them at all. I just find it all a bit much to cope with. Usually you get introduced to newbs one at a time.
Imagine what it is like for a newbie to turn up here.
Being confronted by people who think that just because they were here first they can be really rude and obnoxious to them.
How hard to cope with do you 'think' that would be?

Tldr?

Beloved conspiraloon and friend to the animal world, RFK jr is to investigate the alleged and much dismissed links between vaccines and autism.

According to wretched human being and protector of the rich, Donald Trump; autism "didn't exist 25 years ago".

Which must come as a surprise to all those people who are autistic.

I got through it fine. They weren’t real people yet.

That’s really worrying :(
