Donald Trump - MAGAtwat news and discussion

I quite like the 'old Urban' politics threads in the sense of having a focus on ideas, information and consistency, though there was always a point where that could get a bit oppressive to some of those on the receiving end. There was also the oft repeated notion that it became the domain of middle aged shouty blokes. Shocking, I know! Also, while I might like the idea of the 'old Urban', I'm not that comfortable with the idea of anything like 'enforcing' it.

What all that adds up to, I haven't got a fucking clue. Sheesh, things change a bit. It's fine. :)

Your reference to "Butchers'" suggested a familiarity with a certain poster of yore.

To you, it may have. But not to anyone paying intelligent attention. You should now apologise to her for your very lumpen and lazy assumption. Which I hope you will do, considering and in line with your fastidious need for fastidiousness in all things Urban.

PS. She does also eat flavoured crisps, makes her overnight guests drink instant coffee and signs off on all her emails with 'all best wishes' though so...

Maybe read the post they were responding to which brought up this mythical Butcher character we are all supposed to be in awe and fear of.
butchersapron was something else - really good sharp political analysis with an even sharper tongue. He didn't like me much although he eventually left me alone which I was very grateful for.

He wasn't above posting shit himself though and was hardly coherent some nights. My favourite was on an 'are you an atheist' type thread which I made the mistake of saying that I thought I was an agnostic.

He didn't like that and his final (as I recall and this must have been a good 15 years ago) post was late at night when he directed two paragraphs of what seemed to be venomous unconnected ramblings at me but I don't think I understood anything except most of the individual words :D.

Sadly I think it was lost in The Great Post Cull of 20wheneveritwas. :(

Yeah, it's changed, it's now old aged shouty blokes.

It's not pedantry. It's advice / educational content, offered free of charge. It's sad that new posters these days are so ungrateful.
Are you serious, or is this an "ironic" post?

I can only hope it's the latter, as you are seriously making yourself look foolish if it's the former.

Read more closely. The spelling used was Butchers', repeating the way it was written in the post being replied to. Dunno about you but I've never seen Butchersapron shortened to Butchers' before. Butcher's, sure, or cunt, but never Butchers'.

So in summary, you're wrong. :)

It is noted that you have taken on board my teachings and used scare quotes to add meaning to your writing. Keep up the good work.
They're called quotation marks. What's with the "scare quotes?"

FYI, I am quite good at English, (librarian and degree) so need no help from you.

A librarian who doesn’t read :hmm:
Again, as I posted previously, just because I post vids does not mean I don't read. Some of us, believe it or not, can multitask. We aren't dictating to others how they should get their information. After many years of reading, my eyesight is not brilliant, so, get this, it will blow your socks off. I also listen to audiobooks when I get the chance! Go on, start the witch hunt.
