I know right!
Been researching into Brogue boots and English manufacturers - Cheaney, Tricksters, Grenson - amazing detailing.
Thing is, they cost over £200 - even the 'budget' brand like Loakes are too expensive. :(

loakes- budget brand?

blimey.... they're high end for me right now.

loakes are at least 200 quid for a half decent pair?

I know! They're considered budget in the world of English boot-making - like for quality/ cost ratio.

I really like these

Sheene Motorcycle Boot

I count myself lucky to own a smart pair of jones brougues I got from a charity shop for a tenner.

They're actually really nice and in real nice condition but with a nice "worn" look.

I've had them re-soled and heeled.

I think they'll last years to come if looked after

good find! and they will probably outlast both of us :)

just had quick look on tk.maxx.

they have a few pairs of dune and a half decent pair of base london brogue ankle books, all under 50 quid. the base pair have chunky soles and would be good just for everyday use, only 32 quid too

Yes, Dune / Base make great everyday/ disposable shoes.
They will probably last you a year or two.

What's your size and budget? I will keep an eye out as I'm after a pair of high brogue boots - in dark brown/ grey, navy and possibly black.

size 9 or possibly a 10 if they're narrow as I've wide feet.

I couldn't possibly spend more than 40/50 quid.

So they'll have to be either from a charity shop, tk.maxx or on sale somewhere.

tan/brown all leather, no suede bits.

if you see any likely suspects, take a snap if you can and post it up.

I have a really nice Dunhill mac type jacket that I'd consider swapping for a pair.

it's in really nice condition

Aye, will do.
Keep an eye out on John Whites at TK Maxx - they're good for the £££.

2nd hand market I reckon - I've had Base boots before and none lasted long...nice designs though...

Classic...they're like Mackintosh.
Did you pick that up in a charity shop? I'd Ebay that and use the money for boots.

I did get it from a charity shop last week for 40 quid.

I'm not crazy on it but it is very good quality and dunhill are a good quality brand too.

So I thought that if I don't like it too much after a couple of wears out that i could resell or swap it

I love brogues though.

I think they're the best all round shoe.

I got my weekend winter coat out from under the bed the other day and it smelt of damp. Probably my fault for putting it away wet, but it's 12 years old and I never really liked it anyway, so it's gone in the textiles box by the library and I ordered this.

Its coming tomorrow and I hope its nice.

I have also signed up to Stitch Fix UK | Stylist | Clothing Stylists and am getting a parcel from them on Thursday. Its a styling service that sends you a bunch of stuff based on a really detailed survey. Costs a tenner per delivery but anything you then buy gets that tenner off.

I'm looking forward to seeing what they send me.

The coat has come and looks a bit like a dressing gown. This may be because I tried it on over my pajamas. I will see what it looks like once I'm actually dressed.

looks fairly heavy coat, must be warm?

what's it made from?
