Got some new jeans because all the ones I had were too big. Blue 501s and another light grey pair -

Fucking hell, just wearing jeans that fit properly feels so amazingly comfortable! Grey ones are a tiny bit big but still ok even without a belt, and the Levis are perfect.

Also got a jumper like this only in green, pair of black & blue leggings for gym etc and a black leather wallet.

Paging moose bubblesmcgrath killer b and any other DM Guru's!

I've never had a pair of Docs and think I should get some. Where do you think I should begin? Brand new? Second hand off Ebay? I'm thinking black ones before I go for Oxblood or whatever. Could do without spending 80 odd quid or whatever they are if poss. Ta.

The DM store online has a sale on at the moment. Ebay can be great as some people sell off their newly bought DMs when they find them.uncomfortable. The thing is you need to break them in. Although the modern ones take less time and the leather is a bit softer...the ones made in Vietnam
But... there are some still.made in the UK.and they are tougher leather but also I think they have a lifetime guarantee ... plenty black and oxblood..they are more expensive than the others.

There are bargains to be had online
...often on ebay.

Voley also worth keeping an eye on the TKMaxx website (and/or the actual shop if you have one nearby and can be bothered). Sometimes they're just reduced from eye-watering to expensive but sometimes they have pairs going pretty cheap, although sod's law those ones are never in the size you want.

They are ridiculously expensive now, but I can't help myself. :D It balances out all those pairs I used to get for a fiver from the factory shop when they made them here. You'll struggle to get new ones for less than 80 quid, particularly as you take a common size.

The bog standard black 1460s rarely get reduced much, as they're not a limited edition run. Ebay is good for barely worn ones, and sometimes they are a bit cheaper in army surplus type shops. In our house we favour the 1490 - 10 hole ones, which come slightly higher up the leg and are sometimes cheaper on eBay than 1460s, as people seem to think they're more difficult to break in. :D

If you do find the old Made in England ones on eBay, note that they're much smaller than the current ones, so you may need to go up a size.
Conversely, the For Life ones bubblesmcgrath mentions are nice, and made in a waxy leather rather than the shiny type, but made on a bigger last, and slightly longer and wider than the others.

Those ebay ones you've got your eyes on look like a good bet. Or if you fancy a day out in Northampton, both DM and Solovair have factory shops there.

You've probably got lots of black boots already, so go straight for the oxblood IMO.

I have got loads of black boots already, yer right. Oxblood are are bit too skinhead for me though I think. A bit of investigation does throw up the colour 'Aztec Crazy Horse' mind, :D a colour so astoundingly-monikered I'm almost tempted to go for a pair of them on name alone.

Not if you don't roll up the bottom of your jeans... and grow your hair longish... :D

I refused to wear DMs for years because of the nazi skin connection, and the first time I bought a pair of 1460s my then (sikh) girlfriend was horrified - she had been a shopkeeper in Southall at the time it all kicked off.

These days - don't let the fash have the best style!

I dont think they have that association anymore....that was a long time ago...

I wear them for comfort. As I stand all day...and they really are the only shoes that don't hurt.

Eta....plus they come in so many colours and patterns....:D
