Having lost quite a bit of weight recently none of my bras fit me well at the moment, now a 34F wtf? Odd size which makes it harder to buy things I like ...I have spent some time today underwear shopping too....I LOVE those knickers!..buy them, buy it all they are things of beauty.

This jacket. I now have every combination of suitable outdoor wear to cope with walking dogs on the Yorkshire moors at any time of year. It's taken about 5 years to accumulate it all :D

oh, and this jacket will also be good for late nights at festivals as I can squeeze it into a small bag until needed :)

I've been buying hats. Someone gave me an amazon voucher for Christmas so I thought I'd use it on something frivolous rather than useful and worthy.
Hat 1. Black wool wide brimmed fedora - I'm hoping it'll make me look elegant and stylish but will probably make me look like I'm channelling Edward G Robinson:rolleyes:
Hat 2. Brown chunky knit baggy beanie - because I forget I'm 52:oops:
Hat 3. Elderly gentlewoman style scrunched up waxed hat - good for watching rugby in the rain and hopefully won't make me look like I should be on a pheasant shoot with a couple of spaniels:facepalm:

I appears to have an inability to post pics atm - if I can later I will.

Just went shopping with my MIL who I could sort of tell wanted to buy me something (but she never says til you're at the point of payment). Anyway, we're in Browns in Gainsborough, which has East, Phase Eight, White Stuff and a couple of smaller "middle aged lady" brands.

I espy this, which I wasn't sure would fit (size 16) but is clearly gorgeous. MIL keeps hard-selling lots of high-neck A-line smocks and tunic dresses. In grey. Anyway, I try on the dress, which looks adorable, except it clearly needs a vest as it shows too much cleavage for work. I show MIL, with hand over cleavage. She looks me suspiciously up and down. I mention need for a vest. She makes me take my hand away, and then pulls face of horror and disgust. I mention the vest again.

On the way out she tries again to interest me in clothes with no shaping or tailoring between boobs and waist, and I realise that this is the root of her preferences/distaste. Well, that and she is disgusted by my weight.

Anyway, I love it and would've bought it anyway, but sure enough she pays for it at the checkout. Then I show it to my husband just now and she says, rolling her eyes, "I think you should just put some stitches in the neckline". I mention the vest again. She ignores me and looks disgusted.

Nice dress, though. It looks cuter on me. More full-skirted.

It's lovely :) My mother always tries to get me to buy tunic smock type dresses from places like White Stuff but in "nice cheery" colours as I "wear too much grey" Obviously I can't be trusted to know what my own tastes are, or rather I do know but I'm wrong

A size 16 woman would look amazing in that dress! Don't know what your MIL is on about. If you've got the cleavage, rock it.

That dress is totally YOU, spangles  - your MIL just has no fucking style

That's a mens jumper but it's cashmere and it was £40, reduced from £80 whereas the womens cashmere cardis were £80, reduced to £60  so I went for the MAN jumper - either way, my children will stroke me every time I wear it

That, cos it was a tenner - plus one of the reviews said it was like wearing your dressing gown outside

Also, some black, cable knit, heattech leggings.

spanglechick - love that dress - really love it. Do you mind if I ask where you got it from? I can't buy anything now anyway and hoping to go back on the shakes in a little while - I've just ballooned - but I really do like the shape of it and the colour. It will be beautiful on you!
