OK so I know these polls are semi regular on U75, but there hasn't been one for a while, and people and groups change over time.

Vote according to how you define your political labels - then if you want explain in a post, I'm interested in how people identify their own views - not how others define you. Of course it's not perfect, as I have defined the poll questions, but tough luck!

I'm kinda left wing(well from the choices anyway) but have a certain amount of faith in 'the market'. I don't see the point in any other type of government other the democracy/capitalist solution we currently have(well other then minor modifications like proportional representation) as i think all the communist/anarchist solutions(lol) will ultimately end up back here again.

What I would like to see is more transparency with in government, less influence from big business and a lot less corruption all round.

I've been told that all makes me a socio-capitalist which doesn't sound entirely wrong.

I considered that, but thought one that "forces" people to choose the label that they most closely identify with might be more interesting.

It is a bit vague... ie: leftwing is really a catchall of of other schools of thought like socialism, commuism, pro-working class or (A) etc.....

suppose it really should be multiple choice as personally I would fit into a few of the categories...

I'd probably end up saying anarchist communist. Too much baggage to both terms, really, but that's the term that's used for my position.

OK so on balance I voted Pro-working class independence. To me that means to me that; I believe that we need to organise ourselves as a class in order to assert more control over our lives, that we need to be aiming to take over our workplaces and communities and run things in our own interest. This would of course lead to radical social change, but what exact form any new society would take or how we can get to that stage (other than self organisation) I don't know for sure. In practical terms it means that at the moment I support the creation of rooted and relevant militant and democratic unionism, and community solidarity and residents groups and argue for linking them together in federations at some point.

If it had been multiple choice I would have probably voted socialist, libertarian, and anarchist as well, but thinking about it I'm not really any of those things entirely, for example I do not actually believe an anarchist society is actually achievable (though it is desirable) until we get to the right tech stage.

My actual political beliefs have not really changed for quite a while now, but my self labelling does change.

What does leftwing mean to you though? How do you define it? In what way are you left wing?

If the poll had been multi-choice I'd probably have ticked socialist, libertarian, and pro working class independence. As it was, I went with socialist.

I ticked anarchist. I'd have ticked anarchist communist if it was there. To me that entails working class autonomy.
