David Starkey "Salmond like Hitler".

Starkey comes from that generation and class of men who believe that they have a god given right to be listened to and respected, regardless of what shit they come out with.

Working class northerners from single parents families on council estates - the world is their lobster. Actually, the first part sort of it is right in terms of demanding they be heard no matter what.

I imagine there's plenty who think he's a "great character", mind. I wouldn't give him the steam off my piss.

I agree with him. The Scottish National Socialist Party is out of control. Every piece of legislation they have passed or proposed is restrictive.

If you don't agree, name one thing that you can do now, that you couldn't do before the SNSP government.
How does this make salmond 'like hitler'? Proper answer please.

sas and quartz have both offered the same madness on here.

Live in Scotland, then you may be qualified to comment. The Scottish Nazi Party is the most restrictive regime that I've ever had the misfortune to live under.

Knee jerk, puritanical legislation from the SNSP. I'll be out campaigning for Labour at the next election to get our anti-Semitic MSP out.

I'm perfectly qualified to comment right now you nazi. A restrictive regime does not equal nazism (before you even bother to demonstrate these historically unprecedented restrictions - because you are going to aren't you?). It equals normality.

Restrictive legislation, with more proposed. A police state in the making.
All states then are police states in the making. Not just in the making but on their way to becoming one. And the state and the leading political parties are deliberately heading that way. And always have been.

Do you see why this nonsense might appear to some to be a bit OTT? A bit loony?

I don't agree with him (Starkey) because I have read some history books. Your last sentence is a non sequitur, and suggests that you either have not read much history, or that you think "I disagree with someone" means the same as "they are like Hitler".

Tbf, butchers, I doubt we see eye to eye on everything. I'm a bit worried that this makes me Hitler. Can someone advise?

Maybe Salmond needs a hitler moustache on his chin just to complete the job?

OK. Since they came in. Ban on alcohol promotions, minimum unit price for alcohol, proposed reduction from 80mg% to 50mg%, proposed ban on air guns.

Scotland has an alcohol problem. It also has laws in place to deal with problems arising. Why are the police not prosecuting publicans who serve those already drunk, and why are the police not arresting those drunk and incapable/disorderly in a public place? The government doesn't have the balls to force the police to do the job that they are handsomely paid to do, instead, they are putting money into TESCO's pocket by the minimum unit price.

This will hit the poor moderate drinker very hard. I have no axe to grind here, my average weekly intake is about two units, and that is from wine bought in France. I have bottles of malt that were first opened twenty years ago, so the unit price will not affect me. It is disgraceful to indulge in what is ' collective punishment ', which I believe is illegal under international law?

That would be even more RESTRICTIVE Sas, you're beginning to sound like you want to gas millions of people.

The tories are talking about this (and have put shitloads of money into Tescos pockets)

Would that make Cameron as bad as Hitler Sas?

It is disgraceful to indulge in what is ' collective punishment ', which I believe is illegal under international law?

Again, are you talking about the SNP or the tories?

Sas thinks tories are as bad as Hitler shocker.

Unless of course you believe Hitler didn't do all that stuff he's accused of ...

These are things you don't like about the SNP government. I don't like Salmond or the SNP either (and, incidentally, I share some of your misgivings about Kenny MacAskill's innovations. I think he's an authoritarian, puritan twat). But that's not the same as saying they resemble Hitler and the Nazis.

Didn't you read about Hitler banning air rifles in the 30s? Next step: invade Poland. No sense of history, you people.
