Aye, it's definitely one of the little pleasures to look forward to in international tournaments.

They're the 'home' side, but I wonder if the Czech away shirt being white somehow inexplicably* trumps Croatia's right to wear their home kit so they have to wear the black one?

I remember seeing the red and white kit soon after they became a nation and it was all the red and white squares. Marketing people got hold of it after that and the checkered bit got smaller and smaller.

That's how I would spell it, but then "cheques" for the squares just seemed wrong...
