Crystal Palace 20/21 Season: Eze does it.

Like the title!

Conor Gallagher apparently close to signing a loan deal.

That would be 3 exciting young talents in this window already .

Surely this is not how we usually do business!!!

Looks like Conor Gallagher deal is being pushed aside to make room for Batshuayi (loan with option to buy). Not sure how I feel about that. Great player to land, but I was getting fond of the prospect of Gallagher.

Looks like Gallagher is off to West Brom pity as I think Palace would have suited him better. Batshuayi has passed his medicals at Crystal Palace. He will sign today on loan with option to buy.

Yep. The Batshuayi deal is definitely better overall when you consider the purchase option, but I was quite excited about Gallagher. Looks like he reads the game really well, though obviously unproven at Prem level.

Lot of Chelsea fans not happy about us having him. Quality player...

Hope we don't get dogged by injuries again this season

Sørloth has gone awol from Trabzonspor and is not even in Turkey for their league opener according to reports. Could be good news for Palace as there is a sequence of events that allows us to sell direct to RB Leipzig (Sørloth terminates loan personally as per contract clause). RB and Palace allegedly in talks.

I can actually see this all ending in court. Also, hope we don't draw Tranzonspor in the qualifying rounds of the UEFA league anytime soon :D. Sørloth might want to pick an alternative holiday destination too!

I used to enjoy shouting 'Sørloth with the sawn-off!' whenever he scored, which admittedly wasn't very often (twice - one disallowed!).

Here's Alex being welcomed at the airport by Trabs fans at the beginning of last season:

No pressure lad - just go out there and enjoy yourself! :D

Has someone shown an interest in Zaha and he is away having talks or simply playing safe and resting tonight i wonder. Interesting line up tonight.

Would it be so bad to see Zaha go. I would never advocate holding on to a player if he didn't want to be there and
one player does not make a team. We already have some new young blood come in, if Zaha went, perhaps we could get some more.
Besides, it gets boring just hearing about Zaha................

Doubt Liverpool will be in the market for Zaha if (as reported) Palace expect £45-50m for him. Everton more likely as they are spending.

Do ManUre still have a sell on fee clause?

Do ManUre still have a sell on fee clause?
Yes, though I actually don't begrudge them it really. We bought him for a pittance, so a sell on fee seems justified. Plus they only ever count against profit in any case. Overall in selling, buying back, and sell - on, we got a fantastic deal.

Zaha -
Palace to Man U - £10.6M
Loan back to Palace (2013 , no fee known, possibly free)
Second loan spell (2014 , no fee known, possibly free)
(for comparison Cardiff paid £1.6M when they loaned him)
Man U to Palace - £3.4M
Sell - on fee estimate (based on 20% of profit, actual amount not publicly known, and a 35M transfer fee) - £6.3M

Overall I'd say we've done pretty well.

Yeah, it is good business. Just wondered how long the sell on fee stayed valid.

Zaha is a good (if inconsistent) player for sure. What salary is he on a Palace?

He's on around £130,000 per week, which is part of the reason he's hard to buy from us (he earns the equivalent of Christian Eriksen and Eric Dier's salary combined as an example).

He's also, in my opinion, one of the best value players we have, in terms of what we get back from him.

The truth is that, other than unearthing a gem, Palace could not go out and buy a player like Zaha out on the open market.

£130k is probably what he could expect at a ManUre or similar.

Liverpool pulled out of the £40m deal for Timo Werner because his salary demands were close to £200k per week.
Without putting Zaha down I would see Werner at £40m and £200k per week a better deal given age and stats of the player.

Zaha 2019/20

Werner 2019/20

The two teams/players are not a direct comparison, more to understand the value/wage transfer issues.

Yes, I agree that Zaha doesn't offer great value to bigger clubs when you add both wages and fee. He's worth more to us than to potential suitors, and that's a big part of why there hasn't been a reasonable bid for him really in all his time at the club (barring the initial transfer to Man U, which took place when we were in the Championship).
