Crap, unreliable parcel delivery/courier companies - feel free to vent here

DHL were supposed to deliver a parcel on 1st July. My mind has been on other things so I didn't realise it hadn't come until yesterday.when I checked the tracking they claimed that they had attempted delivery twice (lies) then dumped it at nearby post office.

Said post office is not easy for me to get to.

There was also no missed delivery card left.

I don't think they really did attempt delivery.

Anyway, I managed to rearrange delivery for tomorrow, despite the computer not recognising the tracking code on the receipt (which lead me to find out all of the above).

They're such wankers.

Due to get a parcel via Royal Mail and they've blatantly lied. This is on their tracking site:

We've received a request not to deliver mail to the property your item is addressed to today. We'll attempt delivery as per the instructions we've received, which is usually on the next working day.
I've not asked for them not to deliver so clearly its a made up status.

Yodel: said they'd deliver by yesterday. Didn't, so this morning I used their website to reschedule to Friday, as I won't be in the next three days.

Earlier today I get a notification from eBay saying it had been delivered. Apparently it was left on my 'front porch'.

Come home, and there's no package either at the entrance to the building or in front of my flat (on the first floor).

In order to get a photo of the alleged, not supposed to arrive today, 'delivery', they want me to download their app and register using my phone number. I do not want to do this.

What kind of ramifications could there be for the delivery driver if I made a complaint?

If the delivery can't be tracked down I'm out £150, but I don't want someone to lose their job over it (overworrying, I hope, but also I'm aware just how absolutely shitty these companies can be).

When I moved, one of the addresses I forgot to update was my Naked Wines account. A special offer came up, and I ordered it, but only afterwards realised it would be going to my old address. So I went onto Naked Wines and changed the address, then went to the Yodel website to see if I could do an in-flight address change. I could! So I did, which did mean the delivery got delayed by a day.

Yesterday, the driver arrived at my new address with the package, to say that he was on the brink of delivering it to my new address (which he knew from other stuff he'd delivered to me), but because I'd changed the address, he had to take it back to the hub and redeliver it. I'm quietly impressed that he'd had the initiative to do so anyway, even if I messed it up :)

2024 is the first year I've ever been able to say that Royal Mail is the most crap, unreliable delivery company. I used to always prefer a RM option, if given, before now.

Don’t normally buy off Amazon but had a gift card.
Chose delivery to the Co-op on the corner so I wouldn’t have to wait in. They keep parcels behind counter not one of the self serve lockers.

So how I’ve just had an email:
“Sorry we missed you. We tried but we weren't able to deliver your package today.”
I don’t know.

Royal Mail have been the bane of my life this week.

First, I get a message saying a parcel I sent which was something I sold on eBay was held due to insufficient postage. As I paid more than usual and had carefully weighed and measured the package I was somewhat surprised at this, especially as I paid £4.40 and the extra charge was £3.50. Fortunately the buyer has been very understanding. Payment now paid and delivery expected Monday, hopefully.

Then something I ordered got the 'you weren't home' message. Which I try not to pay much attention to but on that day I'd let the postie in an he'd just walked straight past me as he delivered to other flats in the close. Tried to do the same the next day so I called out to him asking if he had anything for me 'i haven't checked my bag', he said. Then looked and shocker he has my package. 'Just as well you asked' he said. So great, now I have to ask the postie for my post?

Never thought I would be glad to get the regular dour postie back...

Now something else is due for delivery today by RM and I am fully expecting it won't be..

And an Evri parcel was supposed to be delivered today but it's already marked as delayed so looks like the depot doesn't have my route covered today. So that will be Monday maybe...

To be fair to Royal Mail, my parcel did turn up at about 5 yesterday, for which I was grateful.

I expect my Evri parcel will arrive at some point tomorrow, although tracking currently says 'parcel delayed due to a processing incident '.

As usual I have tried to get an update on when I can expect delivery of my Evri parcel via their chat function. However, unusually the chatbot asked me what was in my parcel 'in case the contents have gotten separated'.

One is suspicious...

Turns out it’s not Amazon’s fault. The store has had internet since Saturday and all of Sunday. As well as having to go cash only they’re unable to scan parcels.
So they do have it on site but keeping it hostage.
Ain’t modern technology grand?

Fucking Yodel. Yes I get that I'm not on the mainland and it takes longer to get stuff here, but not an extra week and a half ffs.

Royal mail here are usually great but an eBay seller wouldn't use them even though I offered to pay any difference in postage.

My Evri parcel turned up around 6pm, surprisingly intact but a little bit beaten up. As suspected, as my usual driver has stopped working weekends, the deport isn't assigning anyone to the route until he's back on Monday.

Epic.

As I escalated the problems with my parcel to Evri, an actual person is following up and sending me emails.

I keep telling them my parcel was delivered eventually but they keep emailing me telling me it's stuck in the system somewhere.

Hilarious

If your place is part of their system you should start charging them rent.

Yet again, I am hostage to EVRI. What do you suppose the chances are of them failing to deliver 3/3 parcels in the same week, according to their own fictitious delivery schedule?

Ordered some pencils from Amazon. Scheduled for delivery today.

Got the 'your parcel is out for delivery ' note, tracker showed an on east side of Glasgow several miles from me.

Shortly thereafter I got the 'Delivered your parcel ' notification. We delivered to your letterbox, says Amazon.

No you didn't, Amazon, whichever letterbox you delivered to it wasn't mine.

Tried to ask the Chatbot for assistance, it says 'ask your neighbours and check around the property. Contact us on Tuesday (!) if no luck'.

Fucking epic.

I usually have better luck with Amazon than EVRI… but that’s incredibly lame.

Sadly, although our former EVRI courier was an absolute star, who was reliable, friendly and polite, he has now moved on and now it’s usually some surly sod, who just abandons things on the doorstep and is in his van and away before you even reach the front door.

I had this with an amazon package and it was delivered hours later (outside of their delivery window) I guessed it was someone trying to game their targets.

It turned out to have been delivered to somebody random in a nearby street, who kindly brought it round just now.

I do have really clear delivery instructions so suspect there was another parcel for that street or that address and the driver didn't want to drive round because of delivery targets perhaps.

Who knows, but at least I have it.

Waiting for a order that is being delivered by Evri. It's not urgent at all, but when I put in the tracking number on their website it just doesn't show anything - and just takes me back to the previous page. Tried different browsers to no avail.

It'd be nice to have a rough idea of what day they'll deliver, that's all.

Try this.

When this has happened to me it's sometimes because you've been notified before the parcel has been entered/scanned into the Evri system. Usually updates overnight especially if it's a late collection by Evri (such as 7pm or later).

I used the Evri chatbot this morning and they clearly do have the parcel, as its due to be delivered today (when I'm not in), so it was just their tracking page being rubbish. Now trying to change the delivery date but all I'm getting now is the spinning circle of doom as it tries to find my postcode to allow me to do this.
