Crafty Thread - what are you working on at the moment?

i <3 dymo too :) i misread you there as saying letterpress bee i was all :envy: that you somehow had access to one :hmm: :D lettraset is what you mean i think?

i have a set of these that i use to label all my files and stuff. with practice you can get them looking pretty good but it would be a bit of a pain if you had loads to do.

if it were me i'd get some nametapes printed and sew them on, but then i just want a load of nametapes to play with :D

edit: ooh you could always get some lino and cut your own name stamp. in fact, if you wanted me to have a go at making you one (seeing as the tools aren't that cheap if you're never gonna use em again) i'd be up for that :)

Thank you! Lettraset... no coffee yet and not at home so couldn't check.

Lol... yes I have my own personal letter press in my studio in the outhouse darling ;) I wish! :D

I wonder, could you use those stamps with paint rather than ink?

Letraset I think would be a massive pain in the arse (if we mean individual letter transfers), likewise individual letter stamps. The album title is a whole sentence of six words so a bit lengthy. I quite like the idea of Dymo if it's anything like the Dymotap we had as a kid, but that used to be very thick/plasticky and rather unbending. The make up your own lettering stamp set might be a good way to go. I need to sort all this out by next Friday btw so ideally I'd be able to find a shop in London that sold these things so I could go and look.

the stamps are like the date stamps you get in offices, received etc, quite boring.

dymo is, hang on a tick...

bee - how easy do you reckon the "central park cable knit hoody" you linked to before would be to make: i can cast on / off knit and purl.....

feel like i might like a quiet, whilst baby is sleeping, project.
If thats totally unrealistic i might get my mum to "show me how to do it" :D

I want one now  :D

I might be tempted to do a project where you can practice cabling first - I found it dead tricky to start with. Let me go look at the pattern again :)

good point - i guess cabelling a scarf would be simplest / straightest?!

 courier is now "my" font for college cos i type up my journal on a typewriter :)

Yeah - I had something typewritery in mind, and I have a great old typewriter of my great aunt's, but couldn't figure out a way to type onto the cases as they're too stiff to go through the roller.

ok, you might be better to ask moose or ruby. But ravelry knitters have rated it at a 3-4 on a difficulty scale of 1-10 (1= easy, 10=difficult). I reckon you'll be ok :)

you can just do a practice square, to get the hang of it :)

I made these and learned knitting in the round and cabling at the same time: http://knitty.com/ISSUEsummer06/PATTfetching.html

I have ordered a stamp and an ink pad. I think it'll do exactly what I wanted. I've now got some amazing photos for the booklet so am keeping the text etc minimal.

Meant to say also to bob thanks for the linocut offer - would have been lovely if I had more time x

I'm aiming to get it finished for next Friday when I've got a solo gig.

Forgot to say also that those custom stamps have a whole selection of lovely clip art. I was quite tempted by a little tree but restrained myself.
ooh where? Send me details :)

*I must not buy a stamp, I do not need a stamp*

I always say this but the best project to make is the one you really want to do, because you'll persist through difficulties.
