Crafty Thread - what are you working on at the moment?

Brilliant. I quite like the fire hydrants as well actually, but that would be totally random.

I can do other things whilst I knit, though - it's such a sketch getting the machine in and out, and worrying about finishing seams properly etc.

That Twist Collective stuff is gorgeous! I can't decide which to make first.
This one http://twistcollective.com/collecti...terns/396-vine-yoke-cardigan-by-ysolda-teague
with http://twistcollective.com/collecti...243-lukes-diced-vest-by-mary-jane-mucklestone
as a won't-be-finished-anytime-soon project.

is lovely, but it's an awful lot of seed stitch, and I worry that it would bag as soon as you sat down. And be incredibly heavy.

Have a look on ravelry and you can see how other people's projects have turned out ;)

There's a shorter hoody I've got bookmarked, hang on.

i did another pinboard, covered in wallpaper this time, not so bright so it doesn't detract from the stuff on it. which atm is my samples from yesterday's transfer dye workshop. it was fucking great fun :)

i really like those cases rubes :) looks like you can do all the customising you need with whatever you put in the window :)

Well there'll need to be booklets in the windows to provide the title, track listing, credits etc. I kind of wanted to do something a bit handcrafty though, maybe just for the first ten or something. I suppose thinking about it I could add a handmade card on top of the booklet.

i did :) i've also been lino cutting for the first time. i'm pretty pleased with this considering it's only 2" square and i can't seem to get the smallest cutter in my set to work :D

Ooh I haven't done lino cuts for years, like those a lot :) and your pinboard.

Link doesn't work on my phone Rubes :(

I've bought some fabric which has a bit of a 30s vibe and am now looking for a dress pattern with a bit of a 30s vibe if anyone has any suggestions.

ooh pretty :) i can't help on the dress pattern front but i can tell you i'd steer well clear of earlier 30s style patterns. the whole silhouette (to me) is unbearably frumpy - all those high necks and dropped waists :( but as you head closer to the forties everything gets a lot more flattering. in my forays into vintage style i realised late 30s was my cut-off point, earlier than which i would never go :D (obvs i'm talking day dresses here, if i had a lifestyle that could accommodate backless satin gowns with massive fluttery sleeves i'd be there like a shot :D)

Yes, you're probably right there. 30s/40s then. Unfortunately most of the Vintage Vogue reprints etc are 50s patterns.

I'm imagining something with maybe puffed sleeves and some gathers in the bodice.

And actually, this might fit the bill, she said, having done a bit of googling: http://sensibility.com/patterns/1940s-swing-dress-pattern/

Never heard of them, but the pattern got a couple of good reviews on sewingpatternreview.

Anyway I'm getting ahead of myself as I'm just lining up some sewing as light relief for when I've finished the CD.

I'm trying to think if there's a way to put my name and the album title onto the cardboard case, rather than onto the part of the booklet that shows through the window. Stickers would look crap, writing it on likewise as my handwriting's not particularly beautiful, and I'm thinking stencilling would look too heavy handed. Any bright ideas? Needs to be quick, cheap and straightforward, so not getting it printed.

I have a bit of a thing for dymo at the moment, but not to everyone's taste. Lettrapress (sp?) can look good, but is tricky to get straight
