Crafty Thread - what are you working on at the moment?

Does anyone know what you call those wallet/purse things with no clasps that just wrap around with a piece of cord. I want to make them but 'wrap' or 'roll' purse comes up with nothing.

Can't search properly on my phone, but "fabric wrap wallet" image search comes up with pics which I think is what you're talking about :hmm:

Now its not a secret, last couple of months have been a bit of a crafty whirlwind! Things I have made...

Quite a few metres of bunting :D;
a seashell hair clip;
a bouquet (dried lavender, wheat, lepidium, globe thistles and corn flowers);
a dried flower button hole;
an embroidered handkerchief;
and that shawl that took forever!

*phew*

:D

I decided I wanted to make myself a winter coat this year, as I think this might possibly be an example of somewhere I could actually save money. I've bought this pattern, and now just need to find fabric:

I might do the same thing I did with the shirtdress and make the skirt a bit fuller (am still finishing off a second shirtdress with Japanese monsters on it). It's not a perfect pattern, but I had a lot of trouble finding anything I liked at all.

I made my friend some vanilla vodka as a birthday present:

I got the bottle from a junk shop in Margate. I also made a bag for the bottle out of a cushion cover I got in a charity shop for a quid :)

I'm quite pleased. I had to strain the vodka through the bottom of an old shirt of my dad's that I've been making into a painting smock for the foal :oops: :D

Are you going for the long one, Ruby?
And I demand pics of Japanese monsters :D

Probably long (maybe not that long) and probably with the round collar.

Here's a crap photo of the monster fabric. I have mixed feelings about it. It's great from a distance, but close up the monsters are a bit, well, monstrous.

The monsters are called things like ULTRAMAN MEBIUS and ARMORED DARKNESS.

Fuck knows what it was intended for, I can't work it out at all. It's not cosy enough for kids' PJs really.

Oh :D Maybe something promotional for wherever the monsters come from. I go to a massive fabric place in Wales sometimes, where they have all kinds of 'wtf' fabrics that you couldn't imagine what their original purposes was. Found some Mister Muscle fleece last time. Didn't buy.

I didn't realise how near the end I was and have actually finished it now. Will take pics soon. Meanwhile, I've put some bright red flower buttons on it. They look good visually, but I wish they were spaceships or aliens or something more appropriate.
