:D

Well, it was obvious enough - Criminal Offence & all that nonsense.

Sigh, indeed.
At some point, the fans really are going to have to take back the game from rich buffoons.

OTOH, anyone fancy playing for Castle Swifts FC / Old Castle Swifts FC?
We'd get to put the castle back on the badge, at least.

Edit : for the avoidance of doubt, I'm meaning is there any appetite for some form of a protest club - they're all the rage these days, a la Affordable Football Club Liverpool, FCUoM &c &c, ad nauseam.

And by 'we', I mean I just fancy a kick about - I'm not a devotee of the Temple of Dildo.

And now they are moving disabled season ticket holders out of their seats so that they can make a safe zone in front of the directors' box and stop the nasty people from shouting at them.

God knows who their PR advisor is but fuck me.

Are you kidding?
Do you have a source you could link to on this subject, please?

Some great goals. Southampton looked like us. Arnautovic is very good at football.

I thought Fernandes was great, and Arthur.

Jesus Christ have Stoke ever not been shithouses?

Their subs were Crouch, Cameron and fucking Stephen Ireland! What a world.

Rubbish again today. I'm struggling to give a shit these days given the horrible owners, management and players. I'm off to work in Australia for a year so at least I have an excuse for not renewing the ST. Hopefully Moyes will be gone by the time I get back but I'm expecting a pathetic WBA-like relegation next season. Probably with Pardew back in charge.

I've had a ST since Zola, and before then there wasn't much in the way of media coverage. What was the general reaction to defeats in the Lyall and Bonds era? Was the football better? Expectations lower? Atmosphere more fun? People on KUMB keep saying how much worse it is now in pretty much every regard but I don't have much to compare it with. I grew up in Norn Iron so didnt get much of an idea through Teletext, ClubCall and Shoot!.

I dunno, it's hard to remember that far back without it becoming some kind of nostalgia-fest, especially as it was all at the sainted Boleyn. I do think expectations were lower than they are now, for obvious reasons, and I think it was better before all-seater stadiums. I remember being passed down the front at West Ham so that I could see. To be honest though I only really remember little bits, I don't understand these people who can tell you about some game from 1985 - who scored and what happened.

It's a completely different game now, certainly in the PL, but I don't think it was all jumpers for goalposts and a cheery wave of the rattle before either.

I remember people moaning about Macari and certainly Redknapp. People moaned about Curbishley (too boring coming mid table every year :D) and Roeder. I'm pretty sure they moaned about Lyall as well at times. Maybe it's just all more vocal now? There's no getting away from what some idiot thinks is wrong with Mark Noble.

Saturated tv coverage, radio phone ins ( fuck knows how talksport can get four days airtime out of a dubious penalty decision) and the internet have a lot to answer for. Fans have always moaned, but it was done in the pub with your mates after the game. Sunday was just another day and the football didn't matter that much until the following weekend.

Southampton keeping things interesting. We need to win one of the last 4 to get a bit of distance really, but I don't see it happening. Otherwise, its gonna go down to the last day and I can just see Big Sam with a shit-eating grin going up to offer Sully his commiserations after relegating us.
