Probably an electorate still picking up the pieces from the 2022 budget

Yeah I guess so.

The Tories will generally be pretty happy with their last few weeks of results so it is good to see that they are not getting it all their own way

It's that time of the week again!

In these very low turnout by-elections the RefUKer vote is certainly looking disruptive at present in some areas:

though in others it seems to be less influential than the collapsing main party vote:

Chippy has been solid Labour for decades, so for the Lib Dems to come from 3rd is quite an achievement. Pleased the Tories did not take it.

It hadn't struck me as the sort of place that would be labour,

but LD's were 4th in May 2024

Labour Co-op Geoff Saul* 1,071
Conservative Peter Burns 362
Green Amy Long 197
Liberal Democrats Ivan Aguado Melet 116

This week's by-election

BAGGALEY, Michael Charles, Liberal Democrats 403 *
MORRIS, Caspar Simeon, Local Conservatives 383
ENGLAND, Kate Susan, The Labour Party Candidate 350
LASKO, Claire Eliane, Green Party 152

:hmm:

and :hmm: at 'local conservatives' - is that the ones who are trying to distance themselves from the far-right loons? or just pretending to?

Yet these "Local Tories" are exactly the same ones who picked ERG Courts to replace Camoron.
